BBQ Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I'm looking into what it takes to become an active member of an aerobatic team--and have noticed that the various teams out there seem to fly in flaming cliffs, in the F-16, for example, or some other third party created model. It's been a long time since FC2 has graced my HDD--I thought the only aircraft in that title that utilized the "advanced" flight model was the Su25. Has the commmunity provided high fidelity flight models to other aircraft? I would have thought the aerobatic teams would only be flying either the su25, or the Ka-50, or the A10C--as AFAIK, those are the only "high fidelity" models available. Thanks for any replies--
LawnDart Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 High fidelity or "standard fidelity" aside, it's still just a sim. The simplified flight models of Flaming Cliffs are way better than most flight models in other simulators, so it's not all black or white. There's a fair amount of tweaking that can be done, but even out of the box most ED models behave quite nicely even if they don't have all the bells and whistles of DCS. Regardless of flight model, to make the cut for any serious aerobatic team you'll need three things multiplied and squared: Some inherent talent, dedication and practice... lots of it! There's a saying: "Repetition is the father of learning, so rinse and repeat. Get some instruction and do the thing you want to get better at an annoying amount of times." LawnDart Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I know of at least one other talented pilot who shares the same problem, LOL.
