WildBillKelsoe Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I'm having a hard time trying to get both me and my stupid AI coppie not to get shot down on our way to the TP. So I open flight planner and move all turning points to outside the Georgian trigger, which means were practically over waters east. I keep getting shot down by either: 1- Mi-24 Georgian 2- Gunfire be it tanks or tunguska close to ingress. 3- mIGs.... So I wonder if you guys have come up with a solution to the first mission. Anyways, I keep sending recce to course 100 (Georgian held and trigger), on his way in, he's not shot, but after recce, he becomes shot! I mean WTF??? Should I just intercept close to AO or should I flank seaward and push hardleft onto the bridges and mountains??? TAIPAN_ Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Lol impatient one. Most are playing A-10C. I can't remember the first mission but I've done the first 3rd of the big campaign, halfway through the middle part now. For GOW, the sea is a bad idea due to air activity and SAMs that are often in GOW. Generally you're better off if you have somewhere to hide. The means mountains. Waypoints are a guide only, and following the mission waypoints exactly will get you killed. I fly a wide circuit as needed to stay with cover. Sneaking around and flanking with mountains is good but scan everything and watch out for ZSU he doesn't like you very much and his guns are accurate. Also don't bother taking rockets, they will get you killed. Just 12 Vikhrs + accurate Shkval cannon, then maybe a land and reload. This will keep your engagement range at 3km+ outside of danger range. Rockets are for anti-terrorist hunts where the terrorists have only AKs. Realistic situations that are not challenging enough to bother putting in a computer game though. Also not much infantry in DCS, so forget rockets. ED Team Wags Posted July 1, 2011 ED Team Posted July 1, 2011 A couple of points: 1- Enemy forces in that campaign have no 2S6 Tunguska, so may you are using modified version. 2- All enemy air defense, helicopter, and fixed wing units have random chances of appearing. So, just because you may encounter a Hind in a mission, it may not be there the next time. 1 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
