Laorcon Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Hi together, hope all is fine. I just started playing LOMAC and all was fine, now I changed to Flaming Cliffs 2 and I was really shocked, because it was really hard and allmost impossible to fly straight ahead, because the plane started to roll to the left or to the right all the time... Do you have an idea what I can do to stop my plane from doing that?
EtherealN Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Trim. ;) You can map trim either to rotaries or to a hat-switch, or use keyboard. You then correct the balance of the aircraft with that. Laorcon Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 Thank you for your fast reply. Can you give me a short instruction how to do it? -If you don't mind. Sorry but I find it very hard to look through the options to find the right place to change that. Also I don't really know what exactly is meant...
EtherealN Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Very simple, if you find your nose going up, you click your trim hat up to counter it the same way you would otherwise have to push your stick in that direction to counter it. Left/right same thing. Basically it "replaces" you putting constant pressure on the stick to compensate. Note that you'll have to do this continally - flight is as dynamic an affair as they come, so any time you change attitude, altitude or speed you'll probably have to tap the trimmer once or twice. Same goes if you release weapons and thus cause the aircraft to come out of balance through thus introducing both assymetric weight and assymetric drag. As for how to map it: Start the GUI, select Options, Controls, then the aircraft you want to set (you have to set controls for each aircraft separately). If you then switch the category to Axis Commands, you can find "Trim Pitch", "Trim Roll", and "Trim Rudder" as axius bindings. If you want to use some sort of axis (for example an x52 rotary), do so there. Otherwise select the Flight Control category and find the Trim Down, Trim Left, Trim Right and Trim Up entries and either use the current mappings, set a mapping on your stick, or set a different keyboard mapping. For example, if you use a joystick you probable don't need to be able to maneuver through the arrow keys so you can use those instead of having to bother with modifiers. I'd say a hatswitch on either stick or throttle is the best option. The utility of mapping a rudder trim is limited. Laorcon Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011  I'm stupid. I didn't mean when the nose goes up I mean, when your plane is doing the following: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Aileron_roll.gif&filetimestamp=20060210232414 sorry I'm not an english native speaker and can't explain it better, but I think the picture shows what I mean exactly
EtherealN Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Ah. No worries about the language, it's all right. Please make a flight where you observe this behaviour, then end the flight and press the "Save Track" button on the debrief screen. You can then find a .trk file with the name you specified in the install folder - for example C:\Program Files(x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Flaming Cliffs 2\Missions\Tracks\ On my machine it would be C:\Games\FC2\Missions\Tracks\ Then, in this thread, click "go advanced" at the bottom, below the reply box, and find the paperclip icon. Use the interface there to upload the trk file. This will allow me to exactly replicate what is happening and hopefully pinpoint a cause. I would suspect a controller conflict but it would be good to see it happen to know for sure. Zakatak Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 EZ-Mode trimming for ailerons/vators: Straighten out plane as best as you can, no descent or climb. Press command for "Transition to Level Flight" Wait for plane to centre itself perfectly (a little longer for Su-25/T) Go speed you usually go Disengage Autopilot Trim is perfect, plane is stable.
FLANKERATOR Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 unplug and replug joystick sometimes helps. Situational Awareness: https://sa-sim.com/ | The Air Combat Dojo: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
Vekkinho Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Are you saying your aircraft isconstantly wobbling left - right during level flight with centered stick? Now there's two types of flight models with FC2, advanced Su-25(T) and simple like everything else. Advanced (AFM) is tricky to control but if this issue happens with simple flight model (SFM) aircraft you should probably calibrate your joystick properly! Try adding more curve and increase center deadzone a bit. PErhaps this helps, I never use AFM aircraft for pitch/roll input test runs and I always disable weather (wind and turbulence) when I test it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Laorcon Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 I want to thank you all for your fast replies!!! Now I know that it definitely is a joystick problem, because the plane behaves in another way if I use my keyboard. So I think I need to find a way to recalibrate it... But to show you what I mean I just attached a short flight I did. By the way I think to get me a real good new joystick anyway. What do you think about the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick? Is really expensive but will get it as a birthday present... Joystick Problems.trk
Laorcon Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Hi again, I would like to ask you a favor, can somebody make a picture of his axis tune and put it online? It would be very nice to see how a good axis tune would look like...
Frazer Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Didn't look the track but maybe you need to setup some deadzones in Lockon on your x-axis? Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
manfrez01 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I had a similar problem with FC2 and my X52 joystick, sometimes I have to disconnect the joy in flight and reconnect it to regain control of the plane is a bug I think the joystick. Laorcon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Hi, sorry I didn't reply any sooner, but I was really busy all days long... :( I got a rocketeer joystick; after your comments I allready changed my axis tuning and it got a lot better but still is not perfect so I thought to copy one of your axis tuning- like you post as jpeg... replugging my joystick I will do as soon as I fing some spare time for gaming... *sad*
