Noraf Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 try attaching a track here, easier that way to tell what, if anything, is wrong
159th_Viper Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Quick and nasty way: 1 - Find target with TGP and set as SPI with TMS Fwd Long. Confirm in HUD that target is SPI by the 'tadpole' over target, ie TGP diamond with line extending to top of HUD. 2 - Select GBU-38 from DSMS 3 - Cycle HUD master-mode until CCRP comes up. 4 - Fly to align ASL with IAM reticle and press and hold Weapons Release button once MAN REL message appears in HUD. andyfoot Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Once you've marked up your target and are all lined up on your bombing run with the CCRP ASL lined up, make sure you hold the Weapons Release for about two seconds as the pipper passes the release point. You will hear it drop off, or you can see it on the DSMS page if you have it on.

Thats the thing, i get the CCRP hud mode but no alignment of target, sometimes its completely off (i make a turn after failed first run only to find the alignment is way off in different direction) and doesnt give me count down for release. Has to be something wrong? How do i attach a tracker or even get one.

billyzero Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Are you setting the laser time on the profile page? Not the Laser On button but the setting that tells the TGP when to start firing the laser, ie how many seconds until impact does the laser turn on.
msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Check Laser switch to ARM on AHCP. Sets the Laser time in profile Roger all that, still the same.
159th_Viper Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 My guess is that you're not setting the SPI properly - do you confirm in the HUD/TAD that SPI is set? As for the track, once you exit the mission, save the track by following the on-screen prompts. Will be saved in your 'Saved Games' Folder. Archive the track file and upload it via the attachments tab (paperclip icon to the top of the reply box). Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 If you read above about the alignment being off. I decided to keep a level path to that and i got a countdown, so far so good but still the bomb is way of SPI. I did i quick editor mission with the below track, same problem tbh.Track.zip

When you do step one in Viper's post, in the bottom left of the HUD it should say TGP where it usually says STPT. If it does not you are probably not holding the TMS FWD LONG long enough. I have learned to watch the corner of the HUD to be sure it switches. That long press seems long sometimes but just hold it until the HUD changes. I have done the exact same thing more than once. 159th_Viper Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 This is your HUD: See the STPT in the bottom-left? That means that the current SPI-generator is the steerpoint and not the TGP, further confirmed by the 'box' with the line extending to the top of the HUD, situated in the middle of the HUD - You are telling the computer to drop the bomb in space. I told you - confirm that your SPI is set by the TGP diamond in the HUD, alternatively as cichlidfan said, the bottom left of the HUD indicating the current SPI-generator. msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 I can confirm it does say TGP? wtf is going on lol
159th_Viper Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I can confirm it does say TGP? wtf is going on lol I noticed in your track that you're way too close: Extend, get set up approx 10nm from target and run in on the bomb-run. Once set-up and following the above instructions, post another track for us to have a look at. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Well i was way out for the bomb run, SPI the T80 but the alignment is still way off target, bomb drops and steers its way even more off course. I really don't know what im doing wrong.track.zip Edited July 13, 2011 by msimon
msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Whats the maximum altitude for Laser guided bombs and GPS guided? Edit, also to make sure its left CTRL+UP for SPI?. Edited July 13, 2011 by msimon
159th_Viper Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Whats the maximum altitude for Laser guided bombs and GPS guided? Edit, also to make sure its left CTRL+UP for SPI?. Maximum altitude? As high as you can climb. As for why your LGB missed - you neglected to set your laser time. Set LS Time to 12 secs with the UFC and OSB17 on the DSMS MFCD. The laser was not firing, causing the smart bomb to go dumb. I also think that you were too low - climb to 12 000ft minimum and deploy. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? mvsgas Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 On the lat track you set up auto lase with laser time to zero. Also no need to dive when releasing bomb, stay level during release, will help with bomb accuracy. Edit, Man I type slow. Dam you Viper :D To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Hooray for smart people. Auto lase. 12Sec lase. CCRP mode. TGB on hud check. Set my SPI. Wait for timer. Now for GPS guided bombs:smilewink: Edited July 13, 2011 by msimon
Nixon Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Isnt there an issue with selecting which weapon right from the DSMS and not cycling through the different weapons with the DMS? At first when I selected right from DSMS page the profile I set up on the ground didnt get applied. Could this be happening to you as well?

I do find my settings being set back to defaults, so its is annoying to go back into the profile to change it all back again. If i don't go back to main DMS page im fine. Remember that if it goes back to default, the setting is to have auto lase off. Many a flights did I go crazy tryng to find out why my bombs were over shooting so much.
