This model sold be Amazon is the actual version of Defender Cobra M5 - the 3rd revision without VKB electronics.

Or the worst version of this joystick... But is on par with other "entry level" joystick models from Saitek, Logitech, Thrustmaster.

Damn :( I hoped you would not say that.

How do you know that it's not a real "King version", did you buy one ?

I guess there is no known place where i can buy a real "King version" ?

I wonder if i will keep this one, or if i will resend it. And i wonder if i can return it and get back the shipping fees. After all, they don't sell the version they indicate

The news about the 3rd generation of m5 are disturbing, but are there any *practical* negative effects for a person who would like to buy the stick as a boxed product without the need for expanding the stick with more buttons, etc?

I mean, will we see spiking like with the potentiometer sticks? Is the resolution of axes drastically scaled down?

This "King" in the Amazon name mean nothing, is just marketing for whatever reason.

Don't have VKB electronics, is just a plain version of the Defender Cobra M5:

The real King Cobra - customized for VKB - have a visible metal plate over the base (to anchor the new metal gimbal), and this is out of production a more than year.

What you can buy (from VKB) is the improved version, the Black Mamba.

But VKB production is uncertain, then the availability is just in few months of the year.

Or you can upgrade this Amazon "King" with VKB electronics:

60$ NJoy32 PRO controller

13$ MaRS sensor (need 2)

And, optional:

160$ metal gimbal with ball bearings

The black mamba (~300$) or the 3 upgrades (~240$) make a huge difference in the final price. I'd liked to, but for this price i still don't have a throttle neither rudder pedals.

So, i guess i'll wait for the cobra from amazon, sent it back, and then find another joystick.

I didn't want to, but i guess i will take the x52, or maybe the x55

I recently started learning DCS with Flaming Cliffs 3 and I ordered a Defender Cobra M5 through Amazon.

I'm having a bit of problem with rudder and throttle. Eg. raw values show that throttle only moves in range of 25 - 100 %. Although calibration fixes the throttle, is it still normal?

Another problem is with the twist or rudder, which isn't centered.

Should I contact Amazon for a new unit this or is this normal behaviour or can I somehow fix this myself?

E: Also about ~5 % dead zones on noth ends of X and Y -axis.
