Flying IFR: Need help on ADF use

Good stuff guys! Great to have such people fixing stuff when the sim is falling apart.

 

Could you post the file for offline use? Tuning to a friendly ADF is an important part in my start up to act as a backup to HUD and ABRIS failure. And that has happened!

 

I also like to practise the NDB approaches described in the manual. Lots of fun and challenge.

 

Erforce should add this to his list.

One glorious night of sleep under my belt!

 

I'll post a file today for offline use. I bet if a server was running it a MP connection would work too. If anyone has a beacons.lua from a version earlier than 1.2.3 or 1.2.4, please offer it here so I can get the missing lines for Sochi and Gudauta airfields that are missing the NDB's.

 

The attached file will only fix the missing Kutaisi NDB approach in offline use. It is JGSME ready, but be sure to back up your original beacons.lua file!

 

I am guessing this bug came about as these three airfields are not listed on the default ARK.lua file. ED has no beta testers that use NDB navigation, so these were overlooked while debugging.

 

If it is not fixed in the next update, I'll not like E.D. anymore :P

It is a very different format, but the info might be usable to get the NDBs working at Gudauta and Sochi.

Dear JG14_Smil,

You've done a good job, because the NDB station is for runway 08 and not for the 26.

 

However, if you check the link (for Kutaisi, in beacons.lua) you will notice from the map the correct frequency (477.00); the station NDB is also about 700 meters away from runway 08.

But to avoid problems with VOR station I've positioned the NDB station 1050 meters away.

 

For Kutaisi, it is better to use "BEACON_TYPE_AIRPORT_HOMER_WITH_MARKER" instead of "BEACON_TYPE_ILS_FAR_HOMER" and old frequency.

 

Please, try these new attached files beacons.lua and ARK.kua. They work well.

In fact started to write a reply this morning, but was already late. rushed to job, and has not a second to check back here.

 

here i am, finally. tired, same day tomorrow.

 

I know there's some beacons or ark.lua lurking around here. in case it wasn't done before here my files :

Hmm, Yeah i'm here, but keep in mind i fly mainly visual, looking at the sun when i'm lost. :)

So i don't really understand troubles over beacons and ark, i don't really use them.

Ark is already on the bug list, should i add beacons too ? are they not almost same thing?

No, we are all good now Enforce. Guys that need it offline can use it and we just wait for ED to fix it for online use.

 

I know this is not for everyone, but losing features we paid for three times is not good. I do NDB approaches every chance I get. When I flew I had no GPS :)

These files are not integrity checked it seems. Just flew online on the =STP= server with them installed for a couple of hours - and no probs whatsoever :thumbup:

I saw an empty placard when I was flying online with default files, forgot which server it was.

Yah Smil, but the plot thickens. I'm now getting booted out of the server all the time, so the modded ARK file might've branded me a cheater - or maybe there're some bugs in the DCS MP code still, I don't know. Rats anyway :cry:

I'm pretty much resigned to it not working any more. I've about had it with modding files for DCS.
