Just upgraded my internet and purchased another copy of DCS and it's time to get a dedicated server going...

I am using a netgear WNR1000v2 wireless router and the laptop I am running to is connected via LAN instead of wireless.

If I go to create a new server, The interface IP address says 192.168.1.97 and the port is 10308. So I go into my router settings and add that to port forwarding:

I then create the server and I see nothing on the server list on my other computer... Could someone please help me out here? I am no expert in networking :helpsmilie:

Do you have a static IP address or a dynamic one? In either case, I think you need to know what your externally visible IP address is. You can go to www.ipmonkey.com to check your visible IP address. However, if you have a dynamic IP address (assigned by your Internet provider) know that it can and often does change over time.

I have not set up a server for the sim yet, and I could be very wrong on this, but I think you will need to know what IP others see.

There are other things you may have to do as well, but I think this is a good start.

Is you server currently running? Do you see it on your other PC under the 'LAN' tab?

What's the name of the server - I'll check if it's showing on my side.

Ok, so glad you got that worked out. What did you do to make it work? Do you not need plug in your NAT'd IP address?

I might set a server up and would like to head off as many problems as possible.

Could someone please verify if the MP server 'Aerial Refueling Training" is up on the Internet list? It is only showing on the LAN list for my other computer.

Okay cool thanks, so I guess since I am on the router it is being hosted from it is considered LAN for me but internet for others. Is there anything I have to do to keep it active on the list or is it there as long as the server is up?
