After a nice rig with HOTAS and pedals... TrackIR is the obvious next choice, if you don't have it.

And after hotas/trackir, ssd seems to me as choice no.3.

Number 4:

Get a jar with a good tight lid. Get a rag wet with aviation fuel and keep it in the jar. Whenever you land and open the canopy, crack the lid of the jar near your face for a second or two.:D

You don't smoke and sim, I hope!:P

What is your CPU set to? You have liquid cooling so I would guess you overclocked that 850 a bit.

It appears to be an iBuypower set up? And How does A-10 run on your rig?

I am putting together a new build, that is why I am asking.

This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. Until I got the tinker bug again i7 920 @3.6Mhz 12Gig Corsair XMS3 ram 1600 Nvidia 760 SLi w/4Gig DDR5 Ram Intel 310 SSD HDD 160 Gb + Western Digital 4Terabyte HDD Creative SB X-Fi HD Audio Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Speaker System Dual Acer 32"Monitors. A-10 runs on my rig beautifully. My processor is not yet overclocked as i recently bought the liquid cooler only a month ago. Also my CPU runs very hot even with the new cooler on, so i would recommened for u to get the i7 26000K or even wait tell the new intel 2011 socket comes out (Intel is personally my fav). The GPU is ok but i would recommend for a 560ti or even 570 if u can spare.

BTW my PC is not made by a shop it is made by myself i just bought the components etc. send me a PM when u are upgrading as building.upgrading PC is wht a specialise in Good luck btw

You said the sim runs "Beautifully". So I would assume you get none of the struttering so common in this software? Some would accept it and state it runs beautifully, due to their enjoyment of the sim.

If you don't get the stuttering,I would hypothosize it is due to the 2x500Gb 7200RPM Hdds in your system. Doyou agree with that? I was concidering adding the SSD drive and getting the Motherboard with the "Intel Rapid Response Technology". That is the one that uses small SSD as cache. But your setup is more practicle and it would allow more money for other things.

The GPU I was concidering was nothing lower than the 560. But driver issues and the issues Nvidia has with their SLi Technology has me leaning away from all of their offerings. It takes 2 of their cards to do what AMD does with one. And AMDs drivers and the number of game titles setup in their Control Panel puts them over the top. So nothing lower than the 5870 from their selections was my idea. let me know your thoughts on that also.

My CPU selection was the i7 Sandybridge line. I have read the upcoming line for Intel and AMD and Bulldozers 8cores and the 4Ghz is not impressive. Nothing is going to use 8cores, not withstanding video editing. And Intels statement that their new chip will give you a 25% increase utilizing the same power consumption seems speculative as they haven't told us how this graet metamorphisys is actualy achieved.(ie. adding more cache will slow apps down) but increase multi tasking. Only time and testing will shed any true light on this issue.

So ring in with your thoughts on these conserns and this thread should be in the perfomance catagory but pertanant here also.

Yes they have. It's a die shrink combined with their new tri-gate transistor technology and probably some other improvements thrown into the mix. I'm hesitant to believe that it's going to be 25%, but a dieshrink alone provides improvements in efficiency.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

25% on a die shrink? Transistor Technology allowed the die shrink....right?

It's the other stuff they did not elaborate on that gives me pause, the stuff you call "Thrown into the mix". it's speculation..........right? untill tested and reviewed.
