Stingray66 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Two maybe simple question about the TAD and its symbology: 1) under which circumstances are all waypoints of a flight plan displayed with a cross in the box - and if I deselect the flight plan the crosses stay...(see screen below) 2) Which condition has to be met that markpoint "z" displayed as white triangle? (screenshot below) Thanks Stingray ASUS P8Z68-V Pro - Intel 2500K @ 4,2GHz - Antec H2O 920 - 8GB Kingston XMP 1600 MHz - GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB - WD 1TB Caviar Black SSD Intel 311 20GB (cache) Textures: High | Scenes: High |Water: High| Visibility: High| Heat Blur: On | Shadows: High | Res: 1920x1080 | MSAA: x8 | Vsync: On | HDR: Normal| TSAA: On| Mirrors: Off | Civ Traffic: Medium| Res Of Cockpit Disp: 512 | Trees: 12000m | Clutter: 500m
nomdeplume Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 To get the lines you should be in flight plan mode, using either the left hand knob on the CDU panel or FUNC+7 on the UFC. You can also disable these lines using the TAD profiles. In mission mode (MSN) all your waypoints will be displayed but without the connecting lines. The Z markpoint should be shown always, I think. It's created the first time you fire weapons, and updated every subsequent time you fire them. It marks the expected impact point of your weapon at the moment you released/fired it.
sobek Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 1) under which circumstances are all waypoints of a flight plan displayed with a cross in the box - and if I deselect the flight plan the crosses stay...(see screen below) If there are EPLRS equipped friendlies underneath them, methinks. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Didnt mean the lines -> meant the crosses.... concerning the Z markpoint, I thought it is a normal markpoint and should be displayed as such (green box) - and not as white triangle... If there are EPLRS equipped friendlies underneath them, methinks. could be - but in this mission -> Dragon's JTAC training, there were just enemies... Could the crosses be related some issue with the EGI??? MTFDarkEagle Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 That green cross is indeed EPLRS equipped friendlies. Z Markpoint: it's not a "normal" markpoint, it's a special one :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Stingray66 Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Z Markpoint: it's not a "normal" markpoint, it's a special one :) :D so always a white triangle ... have to pay more attention to my TAD next time...it never jumped into my eye before...just when messing aroung with JTAC triangles, then it is annoying having another triangle there... :P That green cross is indeed EPLRS equipped friendlies. hmm...what can I do with these? MTFDarkEagle Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 The explenation nomdeplume gave regarding waypoint z is accurate as far as I know. Maybe you can find a bit more info on it in the manual. Regarding EPLRS: Nothing as far as I know of: it's just to let you know where friendlies are. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
sobek Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 hmm...what can I do with these? Not shoot them, for starters. ;) If you have ever played BS, you might know how hard it is without these DL gimicks to tell friend from foe. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Lane Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I donÄt know for other things, but yes, the green cross mean a friendly units . i have not check yet if they come on tad before or after a Jtac communication who tell you friendly is there at x .. It's important, when they give you a a target they tell you too.. x unit are there ..sometimes not . when you acquire target, you don't want to kill your friendly earth troup. - I7 2600K @5.2ghz ( EK full Nickel waterblock ) - Gigabyte P67A-UD7 B3 - 8GB Predator 2133mhz - 2x HD7970 - EK Nickel EN H2o block - 2x Crucial realSSD C300 Raid0 - Black Widow Ultimate - X52 -TrackIR 5 - XIfi Titanium HD - Win 7 x64Pro

They are there as soon as you turn your SADL on. They constantly transmit their position data over EPLRS. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Stingray66 Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Thanks for all the information - really appreciated! Laud Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 could be - but in this mission -> Dragon's JTAC training, there were just enemies... Could the crosses be related some issue with the EGI??? JTAC Training and no friendlies??????? So the enemy JTAC provided you with target information? ;) And no - it has nothing to do with the EGI. As others said before: It's friendly units that are connected to the SADL/EPLRS network. In your case: The JTAC. The crosses also show up in the TGP if the relevant unit is in the pods FOV. Not all vehicle types in the sim are EPLRS capable (infantry for example are not), and additionally the mission designer can disable EPLRS. So not all friendlies will show up all of the time. 2) Which condition has to be met that markpoint "z" displayed as white triangle? (screenshot below) Mark point Z is the last location you employed weapons. It is only displayed after weapons have been released, and show the point on the ground where the last weapon was aimed on release (not necessarily where it hit). It is automatically overwritten each time weapons are employed.
Laud Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 The mission designer can disable EPLRS. So not all friendlies will show up all of the time. Oh really? How/where? nomdeplume Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Oh really? How/where? EPLRS can be disabled in the unit's advanced waypoint properties. Units that are EPLRS-equipped have an 'EPLRS(true)' command automatically added at their first (starting) waypoint. You can change that to false to disable it. 1

Yeah...I know what and how that Markpoint works...it was just the symbology...I obviously never paid much attention but the last time in JTAC training where you handle a lot of little triangles it really popped out ... but now that I do pay attention to this small white triangle, it really is always a small white triangle and not displayed as every other markpoint... And yes indeed, JTAC would not make much sense without friendlies nearby :D Stingray ASUS P8Z68-V Pro - Intel 2500K @ 4,2GHz - Antec H2O 920 - 8GB Kingston XMP 1600 MHz - GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB - WD 1TB Caviar Black SSD Intel 311 20GB (cache) Textures: High | Scenes: High |Water: High| Visibility: High| Heat Blur: On | Shadows: High | Res: 1920x1080 | MSAA: x8 | Vsync: On | HDR: Normal| TSAA: On| Mirrors: Off | Civ Traffic: Medium| Res Of Cockpit Disp: 512 | Trees: 12000m | Clutter: 500m
