I'm new here so bear with me on this. That and I just spent 300 bucks on a X65 joystick.

So I notice from playing TMS up gets used quite a bit to mark targets, do TMS down, left and right get used at all. What for?

What are DMS and Coolie hats used for?

Should have spent $500 on the Thrustmaster Warthog and not had to deal with mapping or anything, everything would work how it's supposed to. :)

DMS is used constantly for changing waypoints (up and down) and weapons (left and right). Coolie Hat is used to swap MFDs and SOI.

TMS Down is used for either unlocking or setting SPI to your steerpoint, Left is used for clearing WCNs and right for making a mark.

You might want to have a search for X65 profiles or configuration files for an idea on how people set theirs up.

If you have time you could send it back and get the TM Warthog... I would ;)

I would add that it is also a good idea to print out either a sheet with your commands showing where on the controller you assigned them or labels that you can stick on your controller just until you hands memorize where things are.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it..... just the TM Warthog lends itself to the game perfectly. Works as it should outta the box. I was using a Logitech 3D force pro and for the life of me it just didn't "click" with the game. I think the fact that with any other joystick / throttle you have to remember what you assigned where, makes it that little bit trickier than if its where it is meant to be, as it is on the TM Warthog. Just more things to remember in an already noggin intensive sim.

I found a great profile for the X65 on this board and have it downloaded. Pretty simulates the real A-10 as close as possible.

Me buying the X65 only got me thinking about these other hats and their function. I'm not worried about how I"m going to map them. It just seemed like in my limited flight time, I haven't used them and was curious about them.

I looked this morning at the manual and starting with pages 86 it does give a great overview of all the buttons and their functions. So thanks for pointing me in that direction.

My X65 should be here monday...can't wait!

Thanks Kylania. It's a great picture.

Starting to make more sense now. Now have to wait for my X65 to get here and then practice.

Thanks Jeff. It's looks really good.

I did find a good X65 configuration that I've added to this page. I found it on this site and it's the one I"ll be adopting.

Overall it makes sense when you look at all the functions that you can do most things without leaving the throttle and stick.
