Panther Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Hello Guys, I've recently purchased LOMAC and FC(1.1) and think it's a quite great sim. As I've gathered experience with Falcon 4.0 some years ago, it was not too difficult to get into the sim. Just one thing is absolutely annoying for me: To make the sim realistic, it is in my eyes absolutely essential to start every mission from the parking area with a cold and dark cockpit. In a real simulation, a mission should in my opinion NEVER EVER start flying in the air, and starting on the runway with running engines is also quite annoying, as the startup procedure with the engine start procedure and the initial setup belongs to the simulation. How can I start every mission / campaign mission at the parking area with engines turned off? I saw that the starting point can be modified in the mission editor, but the missions are classified and cannot be edited... or is there another way to modify the missions? Thanks for answers Panther
GGTharos Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Heya. I think if the mission ahs been set up with you starting in some manner, then you're stuck with it. As for a 'real simulation', well, I'm pretty sure that even the big AF sims start in the air now and then. ;) BTW, the password to declassify the missions and fix'em up yoruself is is 'eagle' if I recall correctly, without the quotes. Dronas Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 You must modification all missions :( Or fly on Su-25(T) ;) DimAss Coljo Yappo
Panther Posted August 29, 2005 Author Posted August 29, 2005 As for a 'real simulation', well, I'm pretty sure that even the big AF sims start in the air now and then. ;) Hi GGTharos, thanks for the password. I'll try my luck later. As the missions are scripted, I hope it will not confuse the whole mission timing because I will need some time for taxi before starting.. As far as I remember, this problem was solved very elegant in Falcon 4.0: when your mission started at, lets say for example 15:00, you could either select 'start on runway' and would be placed there engines running and ready for T/O at exactly 15:00, OR you could choose 'start at parking' and would start the mission a few minutes earlier (!), e.g. 14:55 which left you enogh time to bring the jet to life, do your preflight checks and setups and taxi to runway. You got the T/O clearance from tower no earlier than 15:00, your designated startup time. Anyway, great sim! Panther
Gazehound Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 You might get annoyed with your wingmen taxi-ing at 10kmph on a parked start, thats why I use runway sometimes. VVS504 Red Hammers
britgliderpilot Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I think everyone agrees that Lomac's mission and campaign structure could learn a whole lot from Falcon 4 . . . . . ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
GGTharos Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 No ... JF18. F4 has a few little parts here and there, plus the DM. But for missions? JF18. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Thanks for answers Panther Online 99% of the time you'll start in the parking area, make sure you're familiar with Su25Ts startup. Its slightly different to the rest(Shift L then shift home, alt home). It sometimes catches people out. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

ZoomBoy27 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 For other missions than supplied standard missions, most mission-makers have their own password. You can get around that by RE-CLASSIFYING the mission. CTRL_SHIFT-C will bring up a popup window that will ask you for a new password and then to confirm it by entering it again in the 2nd field. Most people use>> eagle Now that you've set the new password - DE-classify the mission Look on the Edit Menu or CTRL-SHIFT D for the Declassify option. Enter the new password.
