Hey folks!

Basically it says it in the thread title.

I am in mission 3 of the campaign and I see a few enemy fighter jets and a few bomber jets in the air. I also see some F16s and such on my own side. Is there any way to tell them "hey folks there is an enemy bandit not even 10 miles from me, mind taking him out"?

Problem is - in the third mission of the campaign I don't get a F10 option. :-/ There is no other. I know what you are talking about but I don't see it. I just came home so I'll restart the game to see what happens... Sometimes radios are buggy.

Make sure your radio is set to the right frequency. I'm assuming you're talking about the stock "Georgian Hammer" campaign, so I think it was 124.000.

Yeah, I've got that set.

I will give it a try soon... It just sucks being shot down by a fighter/bomber jet knowing that there are BLUE fighters un in the air on stand by. :-/

And it is very important to hear what AWCS is saying.

Don't wait till you get a dreaded "29" painted on your RWR. Once AWACS start calling "bogeys, 40 miles, north", be aware: call the air support!

Fourty-miles seems to be very far, but it takes a while until CAP fighters leave their position and come to your help. You can hear them calling "passing waypoint XX", XX being the waypoint number. It means they are following your flight plan and gives you an idea of how far they are. Once they get in range, they will engage. And regarding you, turn your nose to friendly territory and stay there until you hear that the bandits were shot down.

In campaing missions, CAP fighters are replenished from time to time. Look at the F2 view and you will be able to see a aircraft carrier on the Black Sea launching fighters. Nicely enough, they will call out their callsign once they are in the air and on stand-by waiting for your orders.

And lastly, be aware that in campaign mission you will usually face a flight of Su-25's right on the start and then a flight of Mig-29's at the end of the mission. Don't be shy, and call your friendly fighters as needed.

This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly:

IF there are other flights present AND they show up in F10 AND the mission creator was kind enough to include the frequency (yes, there is at least one mission where frequency isn't listed; also, one of the missions doesn't tell you you're supposed to let a couple armor squads know it's ok to move...or what frequency they're on), I will use F10 just before IP , circle a bit until all flights are inbound or engaged, THEN head into the battle area.

A question regarding AWACS: what does BRA, mean? (NM, found this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3320440/Re_How_to_interpret_AWACS_bull.html#Post3320440)

The custom radio options (via the F10 radio menu) don't transmit on any particular frequency. Ground forces also don't report anything on the radio at all (with the exception of JTAC), so unless a ground force is providing JTAC for you there's no reason to list their frequency.

I like giving AWACS the callsign Magic, because I'm incredibly immature. :D

Wow, this "game" is really faszinating...

What is CAP? How high are the chances of friendly jets being taken down by enemy jets? Does it look bad in my statistics if a friendly jet gets taken down by an enemy jet just because I called them?
