Tally calls on radio

Hi!

 

I use to hear call-outs like "Tally armor at [...]" and the like from my wingmen and other flights.

 

What, exactly, does "tally" mean?

 

Referring to bullseye?

Target with the highest priority?

Colour of that thing?

Oversize?:smartass:

 

Gettin' stupid, so please help me.

Visual means 'I see a friendly'

 

(Thus you should not say something confusings like 'visual on the bandit'. It's always 'tally bandit')

And the opposite of tally is

 

"No joy" (= Aircrew does not have visual contact with the target/bandit/landmark; opposite of tally.)

search on youtube, and you wil find a tutorial on bullseye.

 

You can input the bullseye coordinates to show a waypoint on those contacts that are being called out. Very useful.
