froogle Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 So any word yet on a fix or are we screwed until Monday? I'm reaching the threashold where I want my $20 back. That makes no sense. You spent the money cos you want to fly it, but you want your money back and won't want to fly it if they don't have a fix for you within the next few hours??? I had the same problem on my machine. First deactivate the game - find the Protect.exe in the bin folder, and READ what you see then deactivate. Next, uninstall. Next, reinstall 1.0 Run it Click Quick Combat/Instant Action - you'll be asked to activate so put in your original black shark key. When the cockpit appears quit out, and exit the sim. Then run the 2.0 installer. All worked just fine here following those steps, first time. Free fully voiced checklists for the A-10C and KA-50 http://www.monkeyfoot.com/tapcheck [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
LostOblivion Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Can't you just wait for the installer fix? They have said it is coming. The strange thing is you would not complain if they had included a fixed installer with the release, but released it a week later. Nice plane on that gun... Morphine Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I've tried to install the BS2 patch a couple of times over a freshly installed and activated version 1.0 and 1.0.1 with no success. However, I have installed BS1 on my D: drive (e.g. D:\Games\BS1). Does the BS2 installer require the standard C:\Program Files(x86)\... installation to work?

Eihort Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 That makes no sense. I can't use what I paid for because of an error that should have been caught in testing, and by all rights shouldn't even be an issue. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the actual product if they can't even get the installer correct. Then the forums disappear for almost two days. Edit - apparently they have found a solution. Time to try it.
nomdeplume Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 .....and do what with it? "the file "bs2_upgrade_setup_en-1.bin" could not be located"... my files are called "bs2_patch_setup_en-1.bin" Some people have suggested you might be able to just rename the data files, but I've got both the original 'patch' files and the updated 'upgrade' files (from the torrent) and they have different MD5 checksums; so I think it'd be safer to download the whole installation again. Also, the file sizes are a bit different as well. So the data files (.bin files) have definitely been updated with the new release of the upgrade installer. $ md5sum -b DCS_BS2_*/* bb91d791dd1f8c3c6747001e2262ab2f *DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-1.bin a377b626967f0679ea62bf0dc522f3c9 *DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-2.bin 8df4ad514fdbf3128f46a5373d1da691 *DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-3.bin 0e5de84d7959fc74d3dc495657a60646 *DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en.exe 44e5f036c205167c6bee072b6fc90622 *DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-1.bin ae53c05d55af2bff56a691c047c4199d *DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-2.bin eaedafc421e69ad9cd3146b57937057d *DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-3.bin 32604fcdc44f1f0177400ee0d9eac923 *DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en.exe 295c6d2c0c4e0e9ce68289ede13cc24f *DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-1.bin e8258fc62568d6fe1d712b378afb59a0 *DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-2.bin fab010c0297ed342804746f265d3170d *DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-3.bin 57a569f0813d8c562cf98afa4e561320 *DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en.exe $ ls -l DCS_BS2_*/* -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1998297600 Nov 2 20:36 DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-1.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 2000000000 Nov 2 20:36 DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-2.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 929931836 Nov 2 20:36 DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en-3.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1702387 Nov 2 20:36 DCS_BS2_EN/bs2_full_setup_en.exe -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1998299648 Nov 6 19:19 DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-1.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 2000000000 Nov 6 19:09 DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-2.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 930735354 Nov 6 19:19 DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en-3.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1700123 Nov 6 19:09 DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade/bs2_upgrade_setup_en.exe -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1998297088 Nov 2 20:34 DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-1.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 2000000000 Nov 2 20:34 DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-2.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 930753100 Nov 2 20:34 DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en-3.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1702757 Nov 2 20:23 DCS_BS2_Patch_EN/bs2_patch_setup_en.exe

Eihort Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 For the love of Wags, finally. Installed and working.
shockman Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I am still getting the "Black Shark must be installed" message. It did not work with the 1.0.2 patch installed. So as suggested in this forum, I deactivated and uninstalled Black Shark completely then installed the original 1.0 version, activated and ran the game. However, even after all this the BS2.0 will not install. I downloaded the 2.0 via the torrent on the DCS website, so I am assuming it is the most recent installer. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is there anything else I can try to do? Thanks for any tips in advance ;).
McVittees Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 So is it deffinitive: if you did the original patch download, have downloaded the new installer and it says it can't find disk 1 that you have to re-download the entire 4+Gb of setup files? Could a mod confirm this? nomdeplume Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I downloaded the 2.0 via the torrent on the DCS website, so I am assuming it is the most recent installer. You can easily check - the corrected installer is known as DCS_BS2_EN_Upgrade while the original was DCS_BS2_Patch_EN.

Asp Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I dl and installed the full BS2 no problem. What a hoot to fly and fight. When I select Training the list is empty. I'm running Windows 7 Home OS. BS1 is installed in the Program Files(x86) directory. BS2 is installed in the Program Files directory. Should I have BS2 installed in the same directory as BS1 in order to get the Training menu in BS2 populated and working? Thanks Asp [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

nomdeplume Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Would like to hear an answer on this. Yes you need to re-download. The files have changed and as much as a pain as downloading another 4 GB might be, it's not worth the risk of ending up with a mostly-working installation with strange subtle bugs nobody else has.
