Nice. I hope you took apart the throttle handle, too, as mine seems to have a noticeable deadzone so I'm wondering how hard would be to replace it in the future..

Well, it's 20 minutes long, so I can't put it on youtube. I'll see if I can't host it anywhere else or just email it to you or put it up on a fileshare website. I didn't take apart the handles themselves, but there is no real need to, because any issues with DZ's would be located in the base. I'll see what I can do tonight, but it was an interesting experience, and I may very well go into more detail one day on it. Maybe I can figure out how to fix the ever present issue with the detents (I have owned 3 and all have either NO detents in the right, or very weak ones. I think it may very well be caused by grease in the mechanism, which I have explained to the best of my ability and observations in the video.)

Edit:

OMG I just realized. I can maybe do a LIVE disassembly.

Please post this! Can't you just make a part1 and part 2, and post them on youtube?

I think it was a good video, and if you are looking for suggestions on what to film next, I want to put a vote on how to decrease the tension on the throttles. I've loosened them as much as I can using the screw on the bottom, but I still have to use a clamp to hold it in place on my desk.

I know that one off the top of my head. It's the grease. I literally couldn't rub my hands together because it was so sticky. I mean that sh*t's like tar, not grease. Just replacing it with maybe silicone lubricant or something else would do it. I also just kind of went back and forth and back and forth over and over again for like a minute and that loosened it up significantly. I'll see if I can't make a video on how to re-lube it, although it's pretty simple, not requiring much additional disassembly past the point where I went (which, then again, was almost all the way :P)

Ferrite choke cores work on the X-65F to drastically reduce interference, particularly with the twist axis. It should have them built into the cables, especially the end that plugs into the stick, but you can do this yourself. I'm using a bunch of small ones, but a single large cheap ring one would probably work with that cable wrapped around it a few times to get a similar effect.
