pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Hi, Hope someone can help. I'm new at using the Sim :) Does anyone know how to chsnge the height of the Waypoints so that when one is made a steerpoint and the TGP is slaved to the steerpoint the TGP point to the ground and not up in the air? I need to know how to do this using the MFCD CDU repeater page and the UFC? Would be great if someone could help... ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 7, 2011 ED Team Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) think it is in waypoint, there is a drop down box for MSL and AGL ( sea level and ground level ) it is done using the editor when the mission is made. pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks Big - I need more info than that (sorry - said I was new!) Do you know how to do it step by step? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 7, 2011 ED Team Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) No problem, in the editor you need to click on the way point you want to change, and on the right there is the drop down box with MSL and AGL. pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I Thought there might be a way to do it 'in flight'.. i.e. through the MFCD (CDU repeater page) and the UFC? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 7, 2011 ED Team Posted November 7, 2011 I don't believe so, but some of the more experienced guys may know . . . I am still learning as well :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? cichlidfan Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 You appear to be talking about two different things. The OP appears to want to shift the waypoint to its relative position on the ground. BIG is talking about setting the altitude of the waypoint relative to either the ground below that point or to Mean Sea Level, at the time of creation in the ME. I beleive that there is a way to create a cooresponding ground level point in the CDU but I don't know the details. pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I know you can do it via the MFCD and UFC - I just don't know how!! :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
SmokeyTheLung Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Quick way to do it would be to slew your TAD cursor over the waypoint and place some mark points (TMS right with TAD as SOI). Those will be a ground level by default. You can also edit the altitude of the waypoint with the CDU... I'm a little rusty, hopefully someone in the know will chime in System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks Smokey - How do you slave the TGP to a markpoint? Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
kylania Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 If you have a preset waypoint that's up in the area simply hook it on the TAD and TMS Right Short to create a Mark at that location. The Mark will be at ground level, just switch your SPI to that to quickly slew your TGP to it. Bah, ninja'd. To slew your TGP to it switch from Flight Plan to Mark on the knob below the CDU. That will set your steerpoint to your Mark instead of waypoints. Then just China Hat Aft Long to slew your sensors to your current steerpoint. Hold C on the keyboard I think it is? Rider1 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) I slave TGP to the waypoint in space, note the distance to the waypoint. Then move the TGP seeker down to the ground below the waypoint at that same distance as measured on the TGP. It gives me a pretty good estimate, then I refine my search from that point. pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Can you switch from flight plan to mark on the UFC? Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
y2kiah Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 If you want to set the waypoint to ground level, besides creating a markpoint you can also go to the waypoint page on CDU, call up the waypoint in question, and enter the latitude or longitude (exactly as it already appears). This will keep the waypoint at the same coordinates but places it at ground level. The markpoint way is probably better from a flight management point of view though.
pcalvert Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 The reason I am asking if you can do this stuff on the UFC is because I have been building a pit for the last year and have a UFC made for me by Pitbldr I want to try and use it as much as possible instead of the CDU... I haven't got one of those! lol :) Well not a 'non-virtual' one anyway... nomdeplume Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Can you switch from flight plan to mark on the UFC? Yes, FUNC+8 on the UFC selects mark point mode. FUNC+7 sets you back to flight plan mode. Look at the labels underneath the buttons on the UFC to see what they do in FUNC mode. By 'FUNC+8' I mean, press the 'func' button on the UFC and then press the '8' button. You don't need to try to press them simultaneously. :)
pcalvert Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks Nomdeplume - I'll try that tonight! :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH

That's so much easier than looking down at the CDU and trying to remember if it's left click or right click to switch to Mark. Thanks for the tip!
