WindWpn Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Anyone out there using an X52 Pro have recommended Axis Tuning settings for X and Y? The default is very sharp on the X52Pro with Y axis especially bad for pitch up or down. When I give a little bit of stick input forward, the nose dips very strongly even with the AP assist buttons selected. I used to use an old MS Sidwinder for BS which worked great; but wore out and now I have the X52 Pro, which is nice but on BS, they cyclic is very "twitchy." Perhaps, I can play with the curves, but I am not sure which affects what. The Rig: i5 7700k OC 4.6ghz, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1080ti, Windows 10 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jerry Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Same problem here as well which made it unplayable for me, I tried curve and even deadzone settings its just too much of a dip with slight inputs
WindWpn Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Gave up on the X52 Pro for Blackshark. Near complete unusable flight stick for the sim. I went back to my old trusty MS Sidewinder Pro for BS2, and it works great. No more crazy nose pitches and constant fight with keeping the Shark flying true with the X52pro. Sucks that the X52Pro has such poor performance with BS since I will miss all the bindings; however, luckily I have plenty of buttons on the MS Sidewinder, and I remember my old profile from when I flew BS1 with this stick. Back in biz for BS2, and now hopefully some mission completes! Edited November 9, 2011 by WindWeapon 1 The Rig: i5 7700k OC 4.6ghz, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1080ti, Windows 10 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MadTommy Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I use X52 pro and am not experiencing the problems you have described. I do use a curve of about 25 on my pitch & roll axis. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Nate--IRL-- Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 That is odd. I don't have an X-52 so can't comment but a deadzone setting of 5-10 and a curve setting of ~30 should make it far far less sensitive around the centre. WindWpn Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Another problem I had with the X52 Pro was strange behavior with key/button binds. For example, when attempting to select a weapons station which I had mapped on the x52 to the throttle hat Y axis, sometimes it would work and sometimes not. Or rather, in the HUD I would see the icon for Vickers, but no digital readout on the front panel. Master Arm was on, and I simply could not fire weapon. Did Alt-Tab, or Cnt/Alt/Del and then went back ingame and sometimes this would fix the problem. Basically, the x52 profile acted strangely in BS2. Sometimes things works and other times they did not. On the sidewinder, its a simpler stick with all direct mappings from the stick to in-game function. Luckily for BS flight/fight, I do not need as many HOTAS settings as A-10C which I originally got my X52 Pro for (A10C has too much required for the HOTAS to easily match on a single Sidewinder-type stick). All in all, I tried dead zones, and curves on the X52 in BS but it simply is not smooth. You exit the deadzone and Wham, erratic nose pitch even with curves set as aggressive as 30+. No worries though, the X52 works great for all other flight sims I have (including A-10c), and for BS2 I will have a dust free MS Sidewinder Pro! WindWpn Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Have to ask: I see in the BS2 Docs folder there is a PDF of an X-52 profile. Is that profile included somewhere where I can load it in BS2 (not a pr0 but rather lua profile file specifically built for the X52 pro and BS)? Basically ditch the Saitek BS profile and rather employ one directly in BS2. Perhaps all my issues with the X52 relate to loading a Saitek profile for BS2?? Frazer Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I use the X52Pro + Saitek Ruder pedals with default (linear) curves and as you can see in the link below, without any issues. The only thing I do is that I oil the metal ring once a half year. :joystick: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49721 Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I assume you are mapping all your keys in the profile software? I gave up using the Saitek profile software for DCS a long time ago.. i also found it temperamental, which is annoying.. if you map the keys in the game options i bet you'll have no such issues. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Dalton Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I also have a strange problem with my X52. I can't use my collective in BS2, even other axis won't respond, also my trimbutton won't do anything while flying. But in the options menu, everything seems fine and it works. Also I have no problems in BS1. I don't use the profile software... I use the same keybindings as in BS2. Anyone have same problems or an idea? greets Dalton
JFSebastian Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Hi All, For me the problem seems to be that BS2 somehow loses it's joystick settings, both axises and buttons. That is why it seems that trimming is not working and KA-50 is most of the time totally uncontrollable. I have BS1, BS2, A-10C and LO2 installed in the same computer and BS2 is the only one with problems with my x52pro settings. My Joystick mappings are defined inside the games, OS is W7 64bit and controller is x52pro. Please ED look in to this issue, BS2 is unplayable in it's current state. Oh well, it's back to BS1...
