Is possible somehow to simulate insertions/extractions using AI choppers? I tried land, but that make the chopper land and turn the engine down. I'm thinking something like land and take off after a while.

The easiest way is to set a hold waypoint at 1 foot AGL and then set a stop condition after how ever many minutes/seconds.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

No, set an orbit waypoint action on a certain waypoint. Set the altitude to like 1 (if 0 is not allowed, I can't remember), and the speed to 0. The helo will practically land. Set a stop condition to be some flag, then just use a trigger to set that flag later and the helo will stop "orbiting" and continue on it's way.

I'm having a problem with trigger and "flags" wathever is that, have no idea of how properly add them, never tried them before as only designed missions for Fc 1

The "Altitude" mission that comes with the game is all about escorting a heli that is conducting an insertion.

Without knowing anything about mission editing, I'd say take a look at the mission planner for that mission for an idea of how it can me done.

Can't reall get this thing working. A shame cause I need it for a extraction (CSAR) mission :(

You can do this manually by adding waypoints that get slower and lower gradually and then have the helicopter move at 1km/h over the drop off point. It won't fully stop but should move slowly enough for your purposes. However this takes a lot of testing and the orbit function is easier. I can attach a mission if necessary.

That would be a nice addition!

Hi Gents,

happy new year.

I wonder if you got it to work to have the AI fly low and slow.

Even if I define a waypoint to be 2m above the ground the AI will not go below 30m which seems to be a harddeck for what ever reason.

How ED managed to get their altitude mission done with the Helos getting lower than 30m AGL is a mystery to me.

Jona,

thank´s for the mission file.

I´ve played around with it a bit and regardless what I do, the helicopter is not going to hover below 24m AGL.

That´s the lowest it get´s.

I admit it´s not looking bad but I recall the min altitude for heli ai to be 10m in BS1.

I found out that one thing you should not do is to define the waypoint alt as AGL in the ME instead of MSL.

That is then "correcting" all the waypoints to at least 30m AGL.

Perhaps a bug?
