Trident Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Now that a helo is coming to the LOMAC universe I've started to ponder which useful features from existing helo sims would be handy in the Ka-50 expansion. One of those that come to mind is the hold-position/pop-up combo from EECH: lead your wingie to a safe (masked) position within engagement range of the enemy, tell him to stay put, seek an attack position of your own and once established there tell him to pop-up and fire for a coordinated attack. He should then remask (!) rather than continuing to attack. Another nice thing to have would be a FARP object that could be placed manually in the editor like the bunkers and pillboxes. The ultimate implementation of this feature would naturally be to allow aircraft to use it if it is located near a suitable road :) I can see the problems in making fixed-wing AI aircraft land and take off on them though. Can anyone else think of features like that (not just communications related, although that is of course an important consideration)?
Weta43 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I'll be a broken record ... What Trident said - esp. Reloading / refueling only at airfields & FARPs, + drop down loadout choice Cheers.
192nd_Erdem Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Yep,that would be a nice thing for immersion. I think Lock-On needs a huge AI code rewriting in 1.2 both for AI tactics and wingman FM.Current wingman FM is not very noticable(at least trying not to notice works :) ) with aircrafts, but in 1.2 it would be a immersion killer.I can't imagine a helo instantly copy my joystick inputs, moving like my heli's ghost, and when I tell him to rejoin he goes from 200 to 280 in one seconds :) Anyway, what I'm trying to say is more tactical IQ is needed for general AI and same AFM for wingman aircraft.
kam Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Well I think our prayer's have been answered :D (look at lockon.ru) All AI aircraft will use the same flight dynamics as player-controlled aircraft. The AI has also been improved to showcase attack helicopter operations. Trident Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Yep, seems we can scratch atleast the FARP from our list. I'd like to know more about the AI improvements, the description isn't very specific here and mentions nothing about wingman control. Anyway, sounds very promising indeed :)
