Any chance of getting the amphibious vehicles in the game to be able to travel on water for 1.2? It would be very cool if they could cross rivers, lakes and the Black Sea. I envision a mission in particular where amphibious vehicles would make a crossing of the Kerch Straights and you would have to destroy them as they cross.

I guess this would be a bit difficult to code, plus there would be some graphic effects to deal with. The vehicles would have to be sitting lower in the water, plus there would need to be small wakes behind them while in motion.

I don't know about crossing the Kerch Straits but I would like to see the Russian kit be as amphibious as it built to be. The BTR series, BMP series are designed to be amphibious with built in propulsion systems (BMP's by use of their tracks, I believe the BTR has a water jet its the keyhole shaped door on the back).

The MBT's are amphibious also but require some work by the crew to fit the snorkels first.

There are a lot of rivers and bodies of water to effect the land battle and they become natural defensive barriers. Hmmm, NATO forces one side of a river, desperately fighting a rear guard action as Russian armour forces through the river to form a beach head under fire...

Haha. Forces through the river under fire? Dead meat!

Totally agree! Thats why the (then) Soviets built them dirty, cheap, easy to use and LOTS of 'em! :-)

But then I was talking about their amphibious qualities...not their survivability, lol.

I agree. I've been saying for a while. with the emphesis of the new aircraft in LOMAC being ground attack, the groun unit AI could use some revamping to make it behave more realistically. River fording capability is just one of the things it could do with (for vehicles that can do it IRL of course). Better pathfinding and a wider range of waypoint orders would also be a massive plus.

Agree.

Besides amphibious units it would be great to see desant units - whole new strategic and tactical ball-game. Nothing really new to be added, planes and units are all there.

Let's hope the Stinger/Igla dudes can also walk on water, that would make it a holy sam, which nobody is allowed to shoot at.

LMAO!!
