IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Is there a way in the F15 to Step through the various airfields to get a range and bearing to it on the HSI. ... Like you can do in the Mig29/SU27 in RTN mode by stepping through all airfields on the map with the waypoint increment key. I note in ILS mode cycling the WYPT increment key would appear to change the destination as the range changes. However since you dont have a map (like in the 29/27 MFD) how do you know what airfield the ILS is referencing ? Is there an ILS ident or airfield number hidden away somewhere ? SCENARIO I am airborne and want to divert to say Batumi ... how do I go about that ? Edited December 1, 2011 by IvanK
Cali Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 In FC1 someone made a chart numbering the airfields. You knew which one you were heading towards by the number. I think I saw something for FC2, but I'm not 100% sure. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Only trouble is the number prefix to the ILs always seems to be 1 and doesn't increment. The only change I see is the distance.
Cali Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Maybe that's why we haven't seen a chart like that. I haven't flown FC2 much in the last 2 months so I kinda forgot a lot of things. Next time I fly it, I'll check that out also. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 I found these obviously from some previous version. Given Crimea is gone and FC2/BS brings in additional airfields I guess the numbers are all incorrect now. Might also explain why the HUD ILS number doesnt change. Probably something that needs to be put right in FC3. In the meantime any help would be appreciated.

But as you do you need to call for an inbound at each one to find which base it references. A pain in the arse but I believe its the only way. Even though your radio will call that specific base the ILS is tuned to, they will not return a call if your more than 30Nm out from the base. If less than 30Nm out they will give you vectors to final for the given RW. Edited December 1, 2011 by Bolt-1 My Specs. below ASUS TUF Z390 Pro Gaming I5 9600K@4.5 Ghz. 32 Gb. G. IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 All good info. A list of airfield numbers for the SU25T is here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1089726&postcount=1 Neat little map in that thread as well.. If the F15 ILS number was the same as that used by the SU25T then at least we would know what airfield the ILS rng and Bearing is for.
blkspade Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Another method instead of repeated inbound or azimuth request, is the knee maps mod. It numbers the airfields, so if you know what field you currently have selected (single request) count the difference in your head to how many ils/wp clicks you'll need. http://104thphoenix.com/
IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 So when you first select ILS I presume the first airfield selected is your departure point ?? or does it just select the closest current airfield ?
GGTharos Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Your landing point (departure or closest otherwise). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
IvanK Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Ok Thankyou. Testing further there are 16 selectable "ILS" destinations that agrees with the SU25T map I linked to previously. If the ILS WYPT number changed to indicate one of these numbers then the issue would be resolved, you would know what the nav system was pointing to.... I think a bug for the FC3 Bug list. Next Question :) Are the FC2 ILS 's hardwired to a specific runway direction or is that determined by the Wind set in the Mission builder ?

Cali Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Next Question :) Are the FC2 ILS 's hardwired to a specific runway direction or is that determined by the Wind set in the Mission builder ? I think they are the same as in every verison of lock on/FC, they only have one direction. I don't ever recall any airfields rw headings changing. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
ZQuickSilverZ Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 (edited) Next Question :) Are the FC2 ILS 's hardwired to a specific runway direction or is that determined by the Wind set in the Mission builder ? The ILS IS hardwired to a specific runway direction. However, you can run opposite of the course arrow on the HSI if you wanted to land in the opposite direction. Note this would interfere with instrument landing and would require a visual landing. I would not try this in a multiplayer game unless you want to chance hitting another player head on. People flying online don't even use the runway half the time, let alone take off the correct way. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
