MeerCaT Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I like to have my countermeasures dispensed at a rate of 1 every 2 seconds for X number of times. The countermeasures programming code for this is X12 (where X is any value 0-9) This set up works fine for all values of X except for 5 and 7. "512" - dispenses a total of 12, instead of the expected 5 "712" - dispenses a total of 15, instead of the expected 7 Is anyone else able to reproduce this? Or have I misunderstood something?
AlphaOneSix Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) That's how it is supposed to be. If you look carefully at the button itself, it helps just a bit: 1...4,5(12),6,7(15),8 Same goes for interval (7 is .25 seconds and 9 is .5 seconds): 1...6,8,7(0.25s),9(0.5s) And number of flares per salvo is just straight 1 through 8: 1...8 Also, from the flight manual page 6-50: "СЕРИЯ" button. Pressing this button cycles through the number of flare sequences options. The number of sequences is equal to the number of times the program will be run (except for 5 when the number of sequences is 12 and for 7 when the number of sequences is 15). When the value is set to 0, flares will be dispensed continuously. Edited December 5, 2011 by AlphaOneSix
MeerCaT Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 I'm a big fan of randomness, but how utterly bizzare! Why such a random combination of values I wonder? (Gotta love the Russians! :)) Oh well, thanks for clarifying.
AlphaOneSix Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I don't think it's random at all, the display can only show single digits, but that doesn't leave you with many options, so they used some of the less-used digits to represent other values. I mean, to me, having the option of: 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,15 is better than just 1 through 8.

bluepilot76 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Can anyone reccomend a good number for beating the SAMs, that will work in most scenarios? According to a book... UK Army Air Core pilots flying AH64D in Afghanistan just set it to automatic and it sent out complex arrays of decoys. Much better to let it work automatically than try and do it yourself apparently. With SAM incoming we dont have time to change the sequences etc so does everyone just use a standard number that will give you a best chance 90% of the time? WHat is that golden number? I been trying 512, both sides, but still getting hit if not a bit lucky. Hills seem to be the best defence...
