Description:

While turning ADF knob after initial setting (doesn't matter what #), after you turn it again, the sim crashes.

 

To reproduce (did it 7 times in a row):

Loaded a custom mission (included) starting on the runway at Krymsk.

1. Place TLF/TGF in TGF

2. Turn ADF freq to #3

3. Ensure Conpass mode on

4. Switch R800 radio to ADF mode. (at this point the HSI works fine)

5. Turn ADF knob to anything else and The sim crashes.

 

A track file would not save. I attached a file I found the the BS2/log folder, it had "crash" in the title. Renamed it to .TXT in order to upload.

 

PC Specs:

Win7 x64 Ultimate

GTX 260

e8400 CPU (Oc'd)

8Gb RAM

850 watt PSU

Followed your steps and all works fine. Your mission must be porked. Also, did you try deleting contents of the BS save folder?

 

 

OOps! I meant the 'Temp' folder.

OK, just used your mission and crashed successfully, following your procedure.

 

EDIT: Err, wait - why does Windows report "DCS:A-10C Warthog" to fail?

 

EDIT 2: Just created an "empty" (just one Ka-50) mission, starting at the Krymsk runway. Same symptom, easily reproducible.

I'm getting something funny here. I was able to to reproduce this issue at Mazdok but not on the coastal airports like Sochi and Gelez during a cold start.

BS2 I guess. Just easier to group them probably.

It seems the key is the position of the ADF radio switch. With the switch off, you can change channels without crashing. With it on, the game crashes if you: a) change the channel or b) switch inner/outer NDB setting. Furthermore, the HSI ADF needle does not work if you manually dial in an NDB frequency and set the ADF switch to on.

Not sure about that.

 

Reproduced the issue in Maykop, "takeoff from runway". Easily done.

 

Now: Maykop, "takeoff from ramp", to lazy to switch on everything, so I just powered the communications equipment and the NAV stuff (INT.COM on, VHF-2 on, NAV on, nothing else). No crash, I can play with the switches and still live ;)

 

However, every time I switch the ADF channel now, I see something like the Morse code of the station being displayed in the upper left corner (see screenshots). No idea if this is related to the issue, though.

That could very well be; all my testing so far has been from start at runway.

Edit: Still crashes from a cold start.

Here you go, just switch the ADF channel and it crashes.

 

EDIT: Weird. Using my own track, I couldn't reproduce the issue? However, I managed to save a track (ADFCrash2) that displays the actions taken. About a second or so before the end of the track, I saw the windows error message.

 

N.B.: Also tried to produce the crash by switching the TLF/TLG button. All fine there as far as I'm concerned.

Nate, sorry for editing my post ;) - could you please check the second track?

 

Anyway, if it doesn't happen in 1.1.1.1 it would be good news :)

 

EDIT: Airborne in 1.1.1.1 all fine :)

 

Anyone got a spare "1" key? Mine is pretty much worn out and I guess there will be quite some more 1s to type... ;)

Just to confirm, looks like 1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1. solved the problem, did a complete 1 hour nav-ex using NDB approaches in zero vis with no hick-ups.
