So I play online with a10's and I'd like to enter the task coordinates into the abris, I've searched the forum and google AND the bs2 manual and can't find clear instruction how to do this. Anybody care to explain what I need to change (sub mode wise) in the abris and then how to enter a new point via lat long into the abris.

I don't need it for the nav computer cause I don't use route mode just need a visual line or heading to the cords.

Yep, you can add points and even draw lines on the ABRIS. In the BS manual (I don't know if the BS2 manual is the same, I don't have BS2 yet) the instructions for what you want start on page 253, DIRECTLY mode.

The procedure Rotareng suggested is right but is long and frustrating, the faster I know is via PVI-800 using the Target Point in EDIT, if you select the Target Point you just created you see him blinking on the ABRIS screen.

You have just to pay attention on the last couple of number cause is in decimal... devide for 6 and you are ok!

Consider that with an Active Target Point you have informations like dir/dist in the HUD and in the HSI, you can point the Shkval to the point by pushing "Uncage Shkval" and all the help of the AP's for reach that point

The ABRIS ERBL function is probably the easiest way. As you move the cursor, the lat/long coordinates are displayed. Once you have the cursor in the right place, hit INFO then TO. Your route directly to that point will be displayed on the ABRIS.

If you want to obtain the latlong coordinates of a point you can use the ABRIS in ERBL mode by placing the marker on the desidered target, or the PVI-800 in EDIT mode (if you want to get the coords of a point targeted with the Shkval remember to operate the proper switch - on the right of the PVI mode knob - check manual 6-60).

If you want to create a reference point in the ABRIS insert the coords provided by A10s in the PVI-800 in EDIT mode. To do this just enter in the PVI-800 EDIT mode, select the TGT PNT function and one number (1 to 6 if I remember well), enter the coords (0=N and E) and save by pressing the Enter key. Now you can see it in the ABRIS.

This point can be easily datalinked too.

Just remember to change to latlong display in the abris setup (DDD*MM.MM/DDD°MM SS).

I'm quite in a hurry, hope I haven't forgot anything!

page 6-60 (134) flight manual

Set PVI-800 EDIT mode, select the TGT PNT.

Set "Mode of operation for INU correction" (22) forward (Shkval).

Mark a point of interest. The target coordinates will appear on PVI-800. Press "enter".

Set PVI-800 to normal and you can choose the assigned target point.

I prefer PVI-800 for all lat-long entries- though, the PVI-800 is only 1/10 as precise as the Abris can be when the Abris units are set to degrees/minutes.
