TARS question

Recommended Posts

If you leave the default TS messages on, you'll hear the "somebody has joined your channel" (or something like that).

You can talk to them, but they can not talk back to you while TARS is running on your side.

That's the number one reason I dislike TARS. :) It should not work like that at all.

ACRE, a similar radio realism mod for ArmA2, works how it should. If someone is running active ACRE and you're not near them you can't hear them unless you're on the same radio channel. HOWEVER, if someone is in channel and NOT using ACRE you can hear them and talk to them just fine.

TARS blocking out everyone that isn't actively in game and on your in game radio frequency is a horrible "feature" making it impossible to communicate with people not in game or people having trouble getting TARS setup.

The only people it should block are those using TARS and in a situation where you couldn't hear them in game - not everyone by default.

Perhaps if that sort of thing were suggested in the thread for TARS it would've been taken into consideration. But I am not going to copy ACRE--there are numerous excellent reasons for not doing that, since doing so would kill immersion for multiple-channel flights. The current plan is to have an option for those people to be heard on GUARD, which is a fair tradeoff.

EDIT: Mods, please move this to the TARS thread where it belongs.
