GregP Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 And yes better fps in game in window mode compared to full screen ingame with crossfire on OK, that makes sense, because in running in windowed mode, you're basically disabling CF. Which is consistent with what most others see: turning CF on lowers FPS. For some reason I see identical FPS both with and without CF, though.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 27, 2012 ED Team Posted January 27, 2012 makes sense now, so crossfire is not working back to square one lol Forum rules - DCS Crashing? aviaholic Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Terminal Meltdown, You didn't understand me. Via this option "crossifeX mode for 3d application" you can switch off crossfire for DCS automaticly. So you don't need disable it manually via catalyst before start playing. And switch on again after flying is over. BIGNEWY, You are saying about Crossfire positive scalling in window mode? Which settings? upd: read 2nd page. nvm, back to testing... :) Edited January 29, 2012 by aviaholic - Ну-с, так... - сказал хорошо поставленный мужской голос, - В некотором было царстве, в некотором государстве жил-был царь, по имени... мнэ-э... ну, в конце концов, неважно. wtfisgoingon Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 For what its worth. I've been using 2x 5770's and haven't had any issues at all for a good 6 months. I get much worse FPS when I use a single card. I always try all the new drivers (seems like there have been almost 25 of them in the past 6 months) currently I am using 12.2's which made no difference with any of the DCS titles but made a gigantic difference on Batman Arkham City (AWESOME game very highly recommended!!) I always shut off Cat A.I, which has become harder to shut off but can be done fairly easily. Here is a copy/paste from my sticky thread (in my signature) on how to disable Cat A.I: • Disable CATALYST A.I - You must follow instructions below to disable Cat A.I. The slider settings are for enabled only, they've made it harder to disable it but here is how with latest drivers: * Close down CCC.exe and MOM.exe via Taskmanager * Navigate to <username> \AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles * Open Profiles.xml with Notepad * Alt + F and search for "Catalyst" * Change Value Enable to Disable for Catalyst A.I * Save * Restart I'm not sure if it will help anyone but like I said, long ago I had nothing but problems but after applying the various tweaks I have managed to get steady stable results! 1 i7-920 @3.8Ghz / MSI X58m / 8GB DDR3 / 2 x HD5770 / Asus-vw226h @1920x1200 / 2x OCZ Vertex 2 80GB SSD's / Win 7-64 / TrackIR 5 / Saitek x52 / Razer BlackWidow Mech Keyboard / Razer Deathadder Stuttering or fps problems? Oh well....
nimrod123 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) to get crossfire to use a second card you have to disable a power save feature that makes the CCC think that the two cards are one (I have no idea why). its called ULPS and this page explains how to get rid of the feature, it also stops the second card disabling during the middle of play and screwing the picture http://www.overclock.net/t/667144/crossfire-disabling-ulps EDIT: it does require reg editing because ATI claim its not a broken feature, even though with it off the 2nd card now shows up working in things like CCC and system moniter Edited February 4, 2012 by nimrod123 1

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted February 4, 2012 ED Team Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) crossfire seems to be working for BS2 and my A-10c After testing however fps is poor and my single hd5770 can do better on its own Edited February 4, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? nimrod123 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) i don't have the game running yet (steam wont deliver the activation key), i just saw the crossfire thread title and knew that ULPS is a pain in the ass. Particular in ARMA 2. also a lot of people don't know about the fix so i thought it might help EDIT: i also suspect that the game processes the video info as a single thread of info, meaning that multi GPU cores are actually bad as the computer tries to pass the info back and forth wasting time. Has any one tried 3 or 4 card setups, or does SLI from Nvidia work? Also has anyone got an ATI multi core card (like the 6990?) how does that work? Edited February 5, 2012 by nimrod123
GregP Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Also has anyone got an ATI multi core card (like the 6990?) how does that work? Yes, I had a 6990, and in DCS one of the cards gets disabled, so it uses just one of them.
locoidal Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Hi! here 2 hd5850 in crossfire and fullscreen mode I've been trying the latest beta catalyst drivers 13.8 beta2 and it's true that if i disable crossfire i get better results than crossfire ON (with default profile)... BUT... if I force the freefalcon (ffviper.exe) profile for DCS i get better or similar results than with crossfire OFF... (migh be a placebo effect) I'am not sure, but i think this profile (ffviper) internally disables crossfire too :/ Edited September 3, 2013 by locoidal Asus P6T deluxe V2 | I7 950@3.8 | 6 GB DDR3 (@1600 Tri-channel) 2x ATI 5850 (crossfire-->OFF) | Creative X-Fi | SSD OCZ Vertex 3 | OCZ ZX Series 1250W PSU | TrackIR 5 |
