  1. I think there are some kind of "PRE-EDGE thing" in this update.. because FPS in my case are gently improved and I feel different the lighting and textures. Don't you think so?

  3. Look at that Specs!!!!!!! I can't imagine how I would feel if I buy such a monster and, after install DCS, get about 40 Fps.. :cry: Stuttering, Choppiness, Freezes.... with every patch, the code inside the "one core - main loop" is bigger. New effects, new parameter for missiles, new AFM for new aircrafts.. new ... new .. new --> more code inside the main loop that it's executed in one thread --> more time the CPU is busy handling objects --> GPU petitions have to wait for the CPU --> FPS hit!! ...meanwhile..the rest of cores...are drinking beer...yes, handling SO petitions.. but they are really drinking beer A main-loop-application executed in one processor (I already know that the sound routines are executed in another thread) was good in the 80's-90's era ... for the sinclair spectrum or Amstrad. :huh: As I said above...Look at that Specs!!!!!!!
  4. AFR Yes, AFR is good for DCS but the problem with AFR are the flickering clouds and water

Hi! here 2 hd5850 in crossfire and fullscreen mode I've been trying the latest beta catalyst drivers 13.10 beta and it's true that if i disable crossfire i get better results than crossfire ON (with default profile)... BUT... if I force the freefalcon (ffviper.exe) profile for DCS i get better or similar results than with crossfire OFF... (migh be a placebo effect) I'am not sure, but i think this profile (ffviper) internally disables crossfire too :/

  7. Internally, change the name in your mind to... - "DLC" - EDGE - "DLC" - F15 - "DLC" - Su27 ... and so on... this way we won't have problem to pay ;)

It is because the number of the objects in the scene.. and the fact that there are some unoptimized edm models .. you can find some info here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491 There are others core design performance problems like the absence of multithread tech .. but I'm fed up of speaking about the same topics and I don't want to be the "boring multithreaded guy of the forum" :noexpression:
  9. Well...simulators software is really a small niche market Vs for example all the "call of duties", "battlefields" or "mass effects"... you know :noexpression: and the DCS team is not so big.. I think DCS is well programed (look the physic, the level of simulation of the systems and so on), but they should redesign the main core and use, for example, a stronger multithread support and some kind of "object-scheduler" because the number of objects in the scene is really the thing that can bottleneck the most powerful CPU in the market.

  11. Some EDM model are not yet optimized (harbor cranes, small cranes, small boats, etc). This causes Big FPS drops when harbor is in the field of view. PLease, recheck http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491
  12. I'm starting to think that this EDGE will be something like eeehmm .. "GOD" heheheh ... XD Everyone is claiming "we must wait for EDGE"... :/ I think if they fix: - the smoke behaviour (dust, smoke on units and so on) - The unoptimized EDM models (something was wrong in the model transformation proccess from OLD model format to new EDM model format. Some models have lost their optimizations. Other models have so many "no necessary" objects that bottleneck the CPU) These fixes probably will bring back all the Pre-World FPS lost. i think it is no so difficult search and destroy the smoke bug and re-check all EDM models searching for the unoptimized ones
  13. Hi, How did you do that?? If I set Crossfire ON and using default parameters --> 20 FPS drops (from 45 to 22) and stuttering. If I set Crossfire On and AFR in whatever (or both) CCC and Radeonpro ... I get the flickering clouds. With supertile i get al textures in red/yellow/black colors... So... how did you do taht ? .. can you explain the procedure to get these results? Thx in advance.
  14. I wonder why don't they apply the optimizations into the new EDM models... This would ends with some of the performance threads open in the forum.. :glare:

  16. I have heard you are currently moving the gfx engine to a new thread..this could be a big help for fps. Also the fixing of some edm models (port cranes, containers and so on) that are unoptimized in the current engine.. do you know when we could see those changes?.. do we must pay (another time) for this? THX

  19. A 5970 is a good card for the graphics in the sim... here the point is the CPU frequency... There are good news .. in another thread..a moderator has said that they are declouping GFX engine into a separate threard ;)
  20. Disable crossfire water --> low civ traffic --> low res --> 512 single frame MSAA --> 2x The other options can be on high
  21. I think the models are not yet optimized .. looking at Novorossiysk harbor --> around 2000 objects...

  24. I think it is all related to the Tzeer finds .."the number of objects" .. (not trinagles but objects) that bottlenecks even the most powerful CPU... The A-10 or K-50 entities are composed of a lot of objects .. In a multiplayer enviroment .. how many of these entities can you find?
  25. mine is an old Sun type 5 keyboard ( http://deskthority.net/wiki/Sun_Type_5 ). It was taken from an old Sun server. It is wonderfull :)
