Almost 3 years after the release of my movie, Viper, the story of US bombers being sent to carry out a carpet-bombing mission, I have decided to remake it. Due to many issues in the previous film, a lot has been changed. By a lot I mean A LOT. While the story will basically stay the same, this movie will be much more in depth. This includes, short but noted character development, footage shot in an updated game engine, better effects, better camera angles. All of my expectations that Viper did not have, I now plan on putting into this film.

Viper II will be my first Online Feature film. I am expecting it to be over 15 minutes long. There’s going to be much more involvement in this one. I am planning on releasing this film sometime in mid March.

I give you..

The Viper II Trailer.

Pretty good, although like some other said, it could do with more FPS, and probably couple other aircraft doing stuff. It doesn't really give me any sense of anything going on currently. Also, the Harrier flaring and stuff is cool, but I think it only has to do it once to achieve the desired effect.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

@enchalcal, Thank you :)

@Agg, Not really, the scenes that had a dramatic FPS drop weren't used. Chances are those scenes were slowed down in Vegas instead of sped up.

@aaron886, same thing, the frame rate was stuck around 30+ which is usually good considering I turned AA on and increased my resolution to get rid of the rough edges.

@pyroflash, Ill agree that the Harrier scene was used a few to many times. Lets also not forget, this is a trailer, you don't show everything in a trailer.

Honestly guys, are far as frame rates and AA go, its either one or the other, my computer cant do both.

No offense, but I know what smooth looks like, and that ain't it!

Same boat I used to be in. (And I'm still in now as far as DCS:W goes.) My solution was to not make movies. :bored:

I am an inspired film maker, studying film at Full Sail University here in Florida. Making movies has been my passion my whole life. My second passion is aviation, what better than to mix the two.

You could always beg and plead to camera manufacturers and aircraft sales people in order to make a real life aviation movie. Seriously, if you come to them with a viable idea for a movie, they WILL pay you for ad space, whether it be their headsets, their radios, or their planes. The point is, you pay less for the movie, and end up with free stuff.

Really though, the world is seriously lacking in great civil aviation movies that capture the serenity of flight.

I agree, although I wouldn't rely on the feature film department (unless you are talking feature documentary). The film genre is on a similar path as the video game industry (flash and trash). So a quality aviation film will be hard to come by. (most likely won't make much money because of niche subject matter).

It's not by any means perfect, but this series aired a few years ago in Canada:

Jetstream, 10 part mini series (documentary) highlighting the final stage of fighter school. It's a great series (IMHO) (although the country it speaks of is Canada and may not be big enough for some of the Euro's or US residents). Florida has more fighter plans within it's border than we do in our whole country ;).

As far as the trailer goes, well done mate. I've been editing tv series for 10 years and I got started shooting and editing my own stuff early on as well. Although my 1997 version of Adobe Premiere couldn't handle the visual effects, I had to rely on really nice pictures/solid cuts to make it really stand out...but those are the basics.

Pacing is everything, editing is like playing the drums and story story story. Even in a trailer, tell the best story you can. Obviously practice makes perfect...but so do "notes". People will comment and offer suggestions and I suggest trying to build in some of those suggestions. Every pro deals with "notes" on many levels. Studio notes, network notes, executive notes. They are annoying, but ultimately helpful to the process. :smartass:

Understandable. I have an idea for a film around aviation that I would like to make once I get out of college. Kind of based around my own life and how aviation influenced me. When it comes to these kinds of films, cant say they are cheap. I mean how much does a C-172 cost? 150K+?

I guess its all about knowing the right people.

On a side note.

My graphics card died. I am running on intergraded graphics and the frame rate is terrible.

Its going to be some time now before I actually get a new PC.
