StrongHarm Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) I created a mission back in beta that taxed system resources, as kind of a test bed. Sometime around .6 it stopped loading properly. I've received several requests to fix the problem, so I've recreated it for your CPU smoldering pleasure: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1093897 Enjoy yourself in FPS Hell...:devil_2: Edited February 8, 2012 by StrongHarm It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Mustang Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yikes, just tried it and wow....makes my PC want to cry!
ralfidude Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 This game in multiplayer already makes my super computer go well below 20 FPS while looking at certain bearings. No thank you! [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Tailgate Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Only suggestion is to add Overcast. I would probably get 1 or 2 FPS. lol
StrongHarm Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 For a good test of FPS range, try my FPS Reference Mission. There are 12 Blacksharks flying slowly toward you while you're on the runway. On the average users report FPS output is around 40 high and 15 low. Lower when the Blacksharks get right in front of you. I use it to test the difference between test builds of DCS. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
-Ice Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Is that mission working with current version? - Ice

STP Dragon Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 The important question is: Is this FPS-Hell reported to the developers? And much more important: Will/can the developers fix this isues? StrongHarm Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 There's no issue. This mission was created to provide a maximum system resource scenario. If you want a mission to use as a control in progressive light to medium-high resource testing, try my FPS Reference Mission. STP Dragon Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Ah.. I understand. Is this a official reference mission from ED? If yes... hm... it seems like ED want to stop working on performance isues and is releasing a limitation for user-made missions. (??) This is not a good thing in my point of view. StrongHarm Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Nope.. it's simple. I created this mission long before I was a tester.. back in Beta, and people were requesting I update it for the current version...as the OP says. It's nothing sinister or conspiratorial <performs calming gestures> it's just a mission (by me.. StrongHarm) that tests maximum resource drain. I don't personally use this for DCS version testing, but I do use FPS Reference (another mission by me.. StrongHarm) as a control in performance testing. Every tester has their own methods of testing. The only time I've used this mission is when I get new hardware, to see how it reacts. Simmer down lil'dragon, all is well  It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
