Just a suggestion,

could we incorporate a little more realism in the Explosions from the Ordinance? Particularly the GBU 38's, Mk 82's, 84's etc.

In reality when one of these explodes the majority of what one sees is Dust. I was thinking ED could use the textures from the Tank's smoke generators (the ones which have a distinct brown colour) and work on that to give a more realistic explosion. This smoke/dust could have a lengthy linger time too as it does in real world.

Thoughts?

too taxing. they just need to introduce sprite based effects. the particle system cannot be used to produce large explosions/dust effects.

yet when you have 15 tanks all throwing out smoke there isn't much of a hit on the FPS, and that is a great deal of particle generation going on. I would like to hear some of the Developers thoughts on it.

actually, that's a tiny amount. the explosion effect doesn't look or operate like dust trails. and you won't get any developer thoughts on it, because they don't post here. you'll just have to trust us experts.

until the day we see more multi cpu support, we wont see better visuals anytime soon, imo first dcs series needs to branch more of the code onto more cpu cores,

even though the audio is dedicated on one thread, still needs more horse power,

fingers crossed we get the new "edge terrain engine" dedicated running on a cpu core.

so for all u dual core guys it time to upgrade if u can.

That would be nice, also official support for virtual threads too

Or have the same graphic rending that Wing of Prey where the graphics are just perfect and where we can (without lag) see a lot of aircraft in the sky and a lot of smoke trail and a lot of explosion from several weapon, aircraft crash and flak gun.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qbLeNeodXA

The graphic engine in Wing of Prey pare perfect, everything look really great, ground are perfect the effect are 100 better than DCS and we have nice effect like water on canopy when we cross a cloud or oil when we follow damaged aircraft...

AND the visual distance are perfectly nice, i wonder see the same graphic rending and effect like explosion that WOP in DCS

The problem not come from explosion effect but from DCS graphic engine...

I hope EDGE will give us the same (or maybe better) rending that WOP with the same nice tree and not a bad 2D thing !!!

Sure, but you left the terrains size out. It`s not that easy.

Sorry but in Wing Of Prey the terrain are great, its not a small terrain and i don't care about the size of the map, th important thing is the visual range and its totally correct in WOP

And anyways ok then what about IL2 Cliff of Dover and the best example Rise Of Flight where the graphic engine are sublime compare to DCS and where visual effect are nice and the visual range are great with a really big terrain ?

I just say : actual graphic engine of DCS are really bad and i hope EDGE will be really better and not just look a little better and need a NASA's supercomputer for work.

And go look at Aerofly FS where the visual range are superior than DCS, the map size its a full country and it can be optimized for better graphic at close range...

Just type some numbers, and let descriptions like "really big" and "a whole country-big" out:

Swiss has 41K sqkm. DCS world is 330K sqkm (since A-10 even bigger)..

Don`t know the numbers of WOP and ROF but don`t know if WOP has 1K sqkm..?

And yes, for jets this is necessary.

And yes WOP does`t need to compute advanced flight models

and so on..
