Slayer Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Finally replaced the whole computer and did some upgrades to my Obutto :) I re-used my 900W PSU, both GTX 480's and BlueRay drive 5 days of testing and resetting everything back up is finally over ...whew BF3 is the only game where I have to turn down graphics settings to get acceptable framerate. Running at resolution of 6060x1080 ( bezel corrected ) it looks amazing in DCS, ROF, CoD etc The new 3930K blows my old 920 out of the water where DCS series is concerned. On medium settings its over 90 FPS, High is 45-30's range. I tried the "3 monitors" setting using the screens as 3 interdependent displays but the FPS is in the 20's so I switched the the "span" mode which makes it 1 giant display. It's hard to explain the feeling you get the first time you fly with 3 monitors. it almost makes you feel like you are moving. My girlfriend was standing over my shoulder and she said she was getting motion sickness lol. Not sure if I will reuse my Mimo USB displays. If I have to go out of fullscreen mode it will kill my FPS, TBH I don't even miss them not being plugged in right now. One very annoying DCS issue I'm having is the framerate drop whenever a black smoke plume appears from burning. It will literally drop me from 120 FPS (all settings on low , everything turned off) to 0 for a split second....every time you turn your head or it comes back into view this happens.....arrgh. Spent all weekend trying to figure out the cause. Slayer Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 I will probably end up using that at some point. 2 weeks of waiting for parts and rebuilding I just want to fly right now :) It seems every time I start tinkering I look up and it's midnight and I didn't fly at all... 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System Specs Intel I7-3930K, Asrock EXTREME9, EVGA TITAN, Mushkin Chronos SSD, 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z series 2133, TM Warthog and MFD's, Saitek Proflight Combat pedals, TrackIR 5 + TrackClip PRO, Windows 7 x64, 3-Asus VS2248H-P monitors, Thermaltake Level 10 GT, Obutto cockpit

hassata Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I love the 'new-components-still-in-the-box' feeling. I enjoy building the thing as much as putting it through the paces. Try Windowed with an Aero theme selected and you will pick about about 10 fps. Though if you aren't using Helios, Full Screen might be the way to go. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Check6 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Hi Slayer , I am waiting for my Thermaltake Level 10 GT and want to buy a Corsair H100. Was that a difficult install? Thanks!
Slayer Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Piece of cake, remove the 4 screws holding the fan in the top of the case and install your H100. A word of caution though, when you unplug the fan( which has a female 3 pin connector) you should cover up the exposed 3 pins of the male connector from the case fan control with a piece of electrical tape so as not to short anything out. emenance Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Very cool, too late now but want to check this thread. That case was a toss up against the GS1200 Zalman. I really like the design. Esp good if your living on the edge and changes. I can already see a new cpu next year and a motherboard in two. The Q6600 was a nice 4 year run at 3.0 ghz + Asus P8Z68-V GEN3/ 2500k 4.4ghz / Corsair 64gb SSD Cache / Corsair 8g 1600 ddr3 / 2 x 320gb RE3 Raid 0 /Corsair 950w/ Zotac 560TI AMP 1gb / Zalman GS1200 case /G940/
