Hi all,

 

I proudly present to you my first mission ever released.

Down The Road Of Tianeti

 

It is late 2012. Tension between Russia and Georgia is approaching the 2008 level. This time, Russia is on the initiative and uses a more passive approach. Propaganda and other Russian media is used against the population of the northern Georgian provinces in an effort to create a new separatist region. The Russians have already mobilized armed groups, supplied with older Russian vehicles and weapons. Georgia has asked the USA for help. The plan is to set-up a line of defense. This line of defence will include several heavily-protected forward bases. Today you will escort an American scout convoy to determine a new location for one of these forward bases. Once the new position has been determined we will receive supplies at that location and commence the construction of the new base. However, some resistance may be expected from the Russian-supplied armed groups.

Dear KA-50 Pilot,

 

--- MISSION BRIEFING ---

 

- Fly to WP 1 and meet up with the US Scout convoy

- Protect them on their way to the new location for the base. They will drive on the road to Tianeti and continue off-road down the valley afterwards.

- Defend the new location as the new base is under construction

 

Mission duration:

 

~ 1.5 hours

VERY IMPORTANT TIPS:

 

- We expect multiple ambushes along the road. Especially around the city of Tianeti. AAA, RPG's, Lightly armoured vehicles and older T-55 tanks can be expected.

- IED's are possible. The scout convoy will take care and tries to avoid them.

- When you arrive at the new location, there will be two chinooks that drop supplies. After they've reached the new location it will take 5 minutes to construct the outposts and another 5 minutes to construct the bunkers.

- It is of vital importance that the units required for the base construction survive. This mission can fail in many ways but is not difficult as long as you don't lose sight on the scout convoy.

- Stay a little behind the convoy. Let them find the threats. These ambushes can be very dangerous for you as they will only fire when you are up close.

- It is a good idea to call in the MI-24's when our units are approaching Tianeti.

- You should be able to fly this mission without refueling or rearming. This applies to and has been tested for two KA50's + Mi-24 support in both single and multiplayer.

 

F10 RADIO COMMANDS:

 

- You can ask the scout convoy to pop flares at any time.

- You can request help from Georgian MI-24's. They will be available after a while. Use them wisely as they will have a limited air time!

- In case of a smoke designation you can request new smoke once.

Notes

 

This is V1.3

Mission has been tested many times, however, due to the extensive use of triggers and events there could and probably will be undiscovered bugs. Please report bugs or things you just want to see different. Thank you in advance!

 

Currently this mission is made for Black Shark 2 v1.1.1.1 only!

 

Also want to thank STP Dragon for answering all my questions about mission building, even while playing Skyrim.

 

Changelog

 

V1.3

- Added a few more random units

- Some artillery and mortar units in ambushes are now in red alarm state as they spawn. This means they start firing right away

- Added the option to the F10 radio menu to ask for a new smoke marker as soon as the first one is launched

- The chinooks move faster to their destination

- Vehicles that were dropped by the Chinooks move faster to the construction site

- Some text errors

- Season changed to winter (Description: late 2012... can't be spring )

- A new counter attack during the base construction

- Mi-24 behaviour adjusted. If one gets shot down the other one should really go to base now (doesn't work properly in 1.2)

- Added voice-overs using text-to-speech. Currently only for important messages that come directly from the scout convoy

- Multiplayer callsigns corrected

- Mission complete triggers, conditions and actions changed

Multiplayer version

- Based on V1.2. Four KA-50 clients were added and triggers have been updated to work with the new KA-50 clients.

V1.2

- Added agm's to the Mi-24 loadout

- If one Mi-24 is shot down the other one will return to base

- US artillery fixed

- Convoy moves faster off-road in the valley

- Counterattack during base build should work now

- Some typos

- Heli flight now starts from ramp instead of from the runway (was used for testing)

Thanks everyone for downloading V1.2 almost 60 times.

 

As you see I've just released V1.3. Changelog and new downloads in first post.

 

With almost 60 downloads for 1.2 I expect some feedback soon! Thanks in advance. Any suggestions/thoughts/bugs will be taken into account for the next version.

TurboHog what set up are you running. Are you using one monitor two or three. Do you have snap views edited. BS1 or BS2. I tryed to play your mission but for some reason it will not zoom back. Im running 3 monitors on 1 screen setting. This is not the only mission I've had problems with.

Hey Turbo! Stretch here, enjoyed the mission a lot the only thing that I thought could be added was another assault wave during the final construction of the base. In future versions you could even have one last major engagement once the base is built.

 

Also I wasn't sure if it was because we lost all the other units in the convoy (I know that one was lost to an IED), or if you designed it that way, but maybe add just a humvee or two to the convoy so that once it advances through the city of Tianeti we have more to watch over than just a single Bradley.

 

The mission is just fine the way it is, these are just suggestions to consider if you ever wanted to expand the mission length.

Hey Stretch and thanks for the feedback!

 

I will probably add a third counter attack in the multiplayer version. In single player, or with 2 KA-50's in general, you will be pretty much winchester after repelling the second counter attack.

 

There are three units: The vulcan, the humvee and the bradley. The IED should destroy the vulcan only (it's right after a turn so the vulcan is far away from the humvee when exploding). Today, however the humvee was too close and was set on fire. I don't know why and it won't happen normally. Will do further testing for next version. Maybe I can put the bradley in front of the humvee since the bradley is stronger.

No snap view edits, 1 monitor setup. I did use the 'prepare mission' once. However, I cant imagine that it saves information about viewpoints etc. I will open the mission with winrar and see if i can reset the prepare mission settings. I have sent you a PM.

What am i missing. Right after the vulcan gets hit with the IED one of my engines shut down and then to the ground i go. Im not hit. I restart the engine and up i go to have the same engine shut down again. What am i missing

I'm afraid that this is not related to the mission... Please note that an ambush will spawn south of Tianeti 40 seconds after the IED hit. there is one shilka in that group and you will be already in its range when you are near the convoy. You should get a new message about that ambush.

 

Maybe you got hit by the IED. When we were testing the mission a friend of mine got himself killed by the IED. I've added this item to the tips in de briefing which states that you should stay behind the convoy...

 

If not and if it happens again please post a track...

I got surprised of how fast they were ambushed but after I got that encounter sorted it went kind of smooth. Forgot my laser on though so it became useless and after the artillery encounter I had to fight the rest of the mission using my wingman :) It got pretty intense when all vihkrs were out and the tanks kept coming! And those Mi-24 did a good job too.
