RglsPhoto Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 In the manual it says that "The corresponding right wheel well end is colored black and houses the IFF receiver" (Page 44,1.0.0.9 Flight manual), but I also read that it is an ILS receiver "Right pod is the ILS receiver. Left is the refueling door. The right pod is black because that is a rubber coating called "rain erosion"."(http://www.google.com.hk/#hl=zh-CN&newwindow=1&safe=strict&site=&source=hp&q=Right+pod+is+the+ILS+receiver.+Left+is+the+refueling+door.+The+right+pod+is+black+because+that+is+a+rubber+coating+called+%22rain+erosion%22.&oq=Right+pod+is+the+ILS+receiver.+Left+is+the+refueling+door.+The+right+pod+is+black+because+that+is+a+rubber+coating+called+%22rain+erosion%22.&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_l=hp.3...915l915l0l1863l1l1l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0.frgbld.&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=5cfff391e681a1b0&biw=1680&bih=935) So which one is real? BlueRidgeDx Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 The glideslope antenna is located in the right gear pod. The tip is black because it is a radome designed to reduce distortion/attenuation of the received signal. "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. Creighton Abrams
RglsPhoto Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Thank you. And what's about the IFF receiver described in the manual? Is it possible to put both ILS glideslope antenna and the IFF receiver in the pod? badger66 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 It may also be painted black for visual ice detection .
MTFDarkEagle Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 It may also be painted black for visual ice detection . Although possible, I highly doubt it.. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
