I'm hoping for a worthy successor to the, imo, best looking fighter in the history. The Berkut is nice, that one looks like a Sukhoi, I'm not sure about the claimed drawings of a T-50.

But why a f-22? they can make it to match the Eurofighter, or like the YF-23, why taking the f-22 shape? (which looks like an ugly duck)

I guess it looks like the f-22 because it has to have a simmular shape in order to maintain the stealth

edit : it dosent look like its going to be a "pretty boy" ...

What I meant is: Why choose the shape of the F-22 when the F-23 shape has better stealth characteristics and higher speed? (ie why choose something worse if you can copy something superior to the f-22)

Something tells me that the new fighter wont look anywhere near the designs presented on this thread. If russia ever decided to make a "raptorski" then I wonder how advanced it could be if it is going to be designed, constructed and flown in under 10 years when the raptor design has already 20 years of development under its belt.

If russia doesnt inovate instead of copying they are going to end up like chinas aeronautical industry. imitating.

Another aspect is that the russians intend to make a credible plane for the nex 20 years they have to depart completely from their cockpit layout and electronic systems.

The F-22 and the F-35 are going to be so much automated, it will be ridiculous to rely on pilot skill to overcome those disavantages when russias pilots dont have half the training major west powers do.

Think this: the F-35 will always match any oponents moves perfectly thanks to its A.I. combat autopilot (the human pilot will be there for the decisions only) that a humam pilot will have terrible dificulty to overcome specialy if he has to press 20 buttons on the dash board and read 10 dials while he fights.

Im thinking in at least 3 MFD's. No use to put them there to replace dials though. Youll end up on square 1. Western, possibly french avionics might be in order. Some of the mig 29 latest upgrades (read: proposed) and advanced trainers already have western electronics on them.

Even then The new fighter will very much likely to lack the electronic invasion advanced capabilities such as the raptor has.
