hitman Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Because the last desktop I bought, I spent almost 5 grand on...
hitman Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Ok. Cat drivers are now up to date as of Apr 11. Still no joy.
PeterP Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) I can see through my wings, when I zoom in, they revert to normal. Id post a screenshot, but I cant locate that folder either. Umm...what settings do I mess with to correct this? I take it back...I cant save a screen-shot either. Just a laptop, HP Pavilion DV7 on a ssd drive and radeon 6880. Your DXdiag says you have a Radeon HD 6770M ... line #388 Name: Radeon HD 6770M Device ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_165A103C&REV_00\4&3B7C5038&0&0008 Du you really have installed the right (Mobility)drivers for it? Edit: A quick google search for this card didn't looked very good , many having issues to get really compatible up-to-date drive for it... My best guess is to install the one it was shipped with , and see if the problem is still there. ...Newest drivers are not always the best. Or try older HD 5000 drivers - as the 6770M is a evolution of 5770. Both card use the same "480 Stream" processor ... this is just a guess and sure needs better reading for validation. hitman Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Ill probably just turn this laptop back in. Microcenter has a really good return policy on these things. May even just get a desktop, but Im not looking forward to that...
AtaliaA1 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) If you check the first post you'll find Hitman is using a laptop, so reseating the card is a no go. Mustang that was a joke.....Right? I figured it would be understood that ending my search(as stated) was due wholey to that fact. My Fault. Hitman take a look at this post, #14 to be exact. Try it just to see if your error is due to Video Mem. then at least you will have an answer. As this is sometimes a matter of running low on Video Ram. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=86503&page=2 Edited April 12, 2012 by AtaliaA1 This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. Panzertard Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 In case you would like to decrease the GPU memory usage, just to see if thats part of the problem; maybe decrease texture details & visibility ranges. Don't know if you tried this already? The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
PeterP Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) AtaliaA1, please quote next time the whole post , because how you did it doesn't fit at all regarding the problems of Hitman and also puts my massage out of context.:) Originally Posted by PeterP No more stutter, smooth fps, I can't understand what happens Any explanation ??? This has nothing to do with changing something in nvidia inspector. This happens when you ALT-Tab out and back again. The whole Videomemory will be dumped and all also all pre-loaded data/textures when you enter the desktop - and only the current visible scenery will be loaded when entering DCS again. So you have High FPS, - but not for long... Just look a little around and fly the mission - instead taking only a screen-shot. I bet you will having some stutters and be soon back to the FPS you have usually.I know that your intention is to help, and I really appreciate this! But It doesn't fit at all this time. And when you read further in the quoted thread you will also see that I was also on the wrong track - and the issue is cause that the Nvidia profile-loader is not able to handle DCS correctly. So Hitman gave the right answer/comment that this is a Nvidia issue you are pointing at - and wont help him to solve his problem. Edited April 13, 2012 by PeterP
AtaliaA1 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) The point was to reduce the stress on the video card. That was why I left out the other part. The part You say has nothing to do with his problem was in fact left out. Your assumption is incorrect. Souly intended to reduce the stress on video card and not add more confusion by including the parts that did not pertain. Panzer new exactly were I was leading, in a step by step manner, I presume you will to should you look again at both posts. With a more causitive aproach to resolution in mind of course. there is a corrilation albiet. I chose not to add to any potential confussion by stating it at present. hitman Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) OK. So I went out and bought a new computer, returned the laptop. It had some dead pixels on the screen, so I got a refund. Microcenter had a hell of a deal going on today, got a 2600k for 200 bucks. New rig: Corsair Carbide 400R (kinda disappointed in this case so far) EVGA GTX 570HD 16gb Corsair Venegance Gigabyte z68xp-ud3 Zalman hsf Corsair tx750 seagate 1tb 7200rpm drive OCZ 240gb ssd Win7 HE Samsung Syncmaster 27" 2ms All that for 1700 bones. UNFORTUNATELY the power supply is toast, or I think it is because its not powering up. Not real sure what the problem is here...but I expect SOMETHING to happen when I hit the power button. FML.. AtaliaA1 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Nahhhhh.... I doubt it is a bad Power supply, I bet someone from the store or factory turned off the main button on the Power Supply in the back of the PC. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. hitman Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Well given the fact this is my 12th computer Ive built myself, I recall rocking that power switch a number of times before calling it quits on the psu.
AtaliaA1 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Ohhhh mannnnn!!! Sorry about that. Never had that happen before. but it isn't a big deal realy in the grand scheme of things, pop in another and enjoy. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig.
