v1.1.1.1

Happens frequently recently where going from the Mission Builder to Fly Mission then to Fly, the DCS A-10C program will shut down. Sometimes I get impatient and click the mouse on the center of the screen and then the splash window will appear, prolly a coincidence but maybe the mouse click is helping to launch it? Naw...

Any quick fix, or is it a re-install? I don't like having to rebuild all my Warthog customization's.

I've never encountered this, so I can only suggest the usual.

Is it a particular mission it's occurring with?

Try clearing out the log folder after it happens and then try again, see if it logs anything that might be useful in trying to track down the problem.

Most/all of your customisations should be in your user directory, so uninstalling and reinstalling the program will preserve them.

Thanks, nomdeplume,

After I wrote all this down in this post, I reread your reply. I moved all the logs off to a Temp folder and tried the tests again - no difference in the results.

---

I have narrowed it down to one mission, a pretty big one at that. Discovered this when I started a new mission.

The problem mission is called White Bird. It has six dynamic weather zones from Gudauta to Kutaisi to Vaziani. It *had* triggered Switch Waypoint commands that I read were a problem so those are now gone.

I narrowed it down to F/A-18s flying to the coast on SEAD. If I delete all five groups of four F/A-18s , the mission launches every time. I tried removing the five F/A-18 groups one at a time, and reducing their waypoints to just take them to their targets, and backing off on Advanced Waypoint Actions. Dynamic vs Standard weather did not affect the launch problem.

Here is what happens now - with White Bird v12g -

Modify mission in Mission Builder and Fly Mission - won't launch

Restart DCS A-10C and Open mission then Fly and - launches

Quit mission then Fly Mission from Mission Builder and - Launches

I can repeat this last step successfully for a few times

Quit mission, in Mission Builder make small change, Save, Fly Mission - won't launch.

If a developer wants a copy of this mission I will provide it, I'm not going to post it publicly.

Should this post be in the Bug Report forum?

Strange. I haven't had any problem similar to that.

The only thing I could suggest is perhaps reducing the number of dynamic weather zones, having 3+ can have an impact on frame rates.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks, Grimes,

In a few of the tests I changed the Dynamic Weather to Standard and it did not change the launching problem. I did about 25 tests of this.

The mission will run successfully in multiplayer to about three hours. It has won/lost logic to end it, eventually. Have not had issues with it launching from Mission or from Multiplayer, it is an issues when launching from Mission Builder after a modification and Save.

You say it is a rather large mission , is it possible you are running out of memory after bouncing back and forth between the game/editor? do a quick ctrl alt del and see.

Hey Slayer,

I've been working on a new mission and had not gotten back to the problem mission in a bit - although the problem mission works just fine in multiplayer.

The new mission has many more trigger events than previous missions, and now it has started to do the 'does not start' thing from the Mission Editor.

In order for me to check memory use, what do I need to look at - I went into Task Manager and Performance and saw Memory being used but not sure what I need to be looking at...

What do I need to look at to see if I am out of memory when a mission fails to start from the Mission Editor and leaves me on the desktop with no DCS program running?

Hi Eno,

Everything works fine when I run either mission without going through the Mission Editor. It's when I edit a mission in the editor and then go to Fly Mission - that is when it fails to launch. At that point DCS is no longer running on my machine, verified in Task Manager. Then when I restart A-10C and launch through Mission Editor, Mission or Multiplayer (depending upon Player vs Client testing) it does launch every time. The second mission that this is happening in does not have any A-10Cs in it yet, Player or Client.

It is the editing then launching that fails.

Reproduce this problem, then immediately upload

1) dcs.log

2) me.log

3) the mission

4) give us your computer's rough specs

dcs.log and me.log can be found in C:\Users\<your account name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Logs. They must be uploaded immediately after you get the problem, as they are erased and re-written in subsequent sessions of DCS.

This might be enough to identify what the issue is.
