Mt5_Roie Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I own A-10C and BS2. I have my old gaming machine as a dedicated server for the wing I belong to using the BS2 app. I fly with the A-10C app. It works great and we'd like to be able to keep doing it. With DSC World, how will it know if I want to use BS2 or A-10C? I'd like to set the server to use the BS2 account so I can fly with the A-10C account - will this be possible? GGTharos Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 That's a good question - I don't think there's a clear answer right at the moment, but I'm sure it will be looked at. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Mt5_Roie Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Well, ideally it would be nice if there was a dedicated server app that used one of your account with a limited GUI that squads to use. But that might be asking too much at this time. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
GGTharos Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I agree that it would be ideal. Like I said, it is a good question, and if/when such things happen and ED is ready to talk about them, they will, that's what I am trying to convey. For now, there's really no information on the subject. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
112th_Rossi Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 If ED want to preserve multiplayer, I think a dedicated server is the only way to go.
AMVI_Zakk Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi, is DCS World able to run as server with no BS/Warthog installed? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aeronautica Militare Virtuale Italiana YouTube AMVI
sobek Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi, is DCS World able to run as server with no BS/Warthog installed? This is currently not possible. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
xjiks Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 From what I understood you need to activate at least one of the module (BS2/A10/P51) to enable the "online" side of the game. Once you activate one of the module you can host a MP game with any of the "playable" aircrafts. Each player connecting to the server can only fly the ones they paid (according to the mission and available slots) Just my thoughts .... L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. However, I and others, wonder if DCSW changes things. With DCSW you will no longer have individual sims. Your key simply unlocks the AC for you to pilot in DCSW. What this may lead to is that once you activate your key with DCSW and you log on to play multiplayer it is saved against your account. The question is will you be able to have multiple instances of your account logged on and "use" one key to run a server then "use" another key on another machine to fly. In my mind, the above option should not work because all of your keys are technical in use when you start up DCSW. I could be over thinking it. We will have to wait for clarification by ED.
