Since DCS World will integrate everything so far in a single but huge install, I am wondering how much administrative work for the sim enthusiast this will mean in the long run. Updates to the A10 for example did not always go so well, so many people have made it a habit to do a complete reinstall once a new patch is released.

Now a World installation is much more complex and a complete reinstall with all modules and having to reconfigure everything (multiple screens, exports, Helios and whatnot) for each module would be a daunting task.

So will there be an integrated updated or even Mod Manager, making it easy for us to keep things up to date without having to resort to manual reinstalls whenever a module or even World itself is updated?

Considering you could make the update application also into some sort of marketplace for mods and payable content, this might also be an economically smart move?

I'm interested in what you guys have to say about that idea...

What I would like to see is that you just have to download one patch and it patches DSC: World and all the modules at the same time.

Actually, for the most part DCS World means it's easier to manage MODs and other such things as they only need to be installed once regardless of how many modules you have. Rather than once for aircraft install as before. Skins or other texture mods now only need to be installed once is you have A-10C and Ka-50 rather than twice as it's been up to now.

Worst case scenario for some things like individual aircraft control configurations and .lua edits is that you have to do exactly what you've always done and install the mods for each aircraft one by one.

Thanks! Some good news.

So what about having to update World itself? Might there be the scenario of having to wipe it completely and doing a reinstall of all the modules including messing around with all the config files? My setup is fairly complex and having to reinstall a module or even World itself is something I'd like to avoid if given any chance to do so.

Of course texture mods, skins, scenery etc are global for all modules. I'm only concerned about having to tweak everything to suit my hardware.

Please have a look at the inner file structure of your DCS:World install with a special attention to ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods.

I think when you already tweaked a lot, you should get the idea that it is now much easier for us to get all modules at a same level.

More hints on this here: DCS World and Multiple screen setups.

I haven't installed World. Yet. But I plan to do so next week, this week I don't have time to play around with new simming toys because of my work schedule. :(

But thanks for the link, I think I understand it better now.

HeHe, I had the suspicion you didn't tried... ;)

@ all who reading this: Please make your own picture before talking depper of functions - makes communication much easier and many questions obsolete.

BTW: DCS:World is Free and also gives you the Su-25T without registration in Single Player. And you can use all functions without restriction. (Included in the P-51D Beta download. Just only install DCS:World without P-51D)

Was it that obvious? :music_whistling:

Already downloaded and will get into it ASAP. Sorry for the somewhat redundant question. ;)
