WildBillKelsoe Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Hello, I spent today looking at pedia, trying to get missing wingspan diagram from the manual, which happen to be in the training brochure of P-47M Thuderbolt. I was not satisfied, at least because not all aircrafts fall into that trio. So, I checked in-game pedia, and noted, sorted and converted all metric spans for US/Russian aircrafts in game, to feet. But in order to verify, I need you guys to fly this mission I've attached, and use the values from the table for the aircrafts. I'm not sure if the encyclopedia is accurate, but it's a start.. All feedback is welcome  1 AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. -Rudel- Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I can tell you from a texturing side, that the wings are not correct in length or width already. I'm using blue-prints from SIG to verify my placement of panel lines and rivets. A lot is not lining up correctly. Now the gear doors are nearly a perfect match and can understand the limits of polys to get a desired frame-rate. https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD

WildBillKelsoe Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 Thanks Erich, I was referring in context of the game. XarBat Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Awesome, I was waiting for someone to make a thread about this.
ErichVon Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Thanks Erich, I was referring in context of the game. Nevertheless, good read. keep them coming! Yes, I realize the info is Aces High specific. Yet, their forums have history and engineer buffs probably just as informed as some of the experts here and ditto their, some guys, prima dona, know-it-all, I'm never wrong, attitude. I notice this attitude in various aspects of living life as to putting up with the similar attitude the toolmakers I learned from and worked with. My experience, most guys I worked with had this attitude. I think it just comes with the accuracy of doing the job and the mindset of screwing up is not an option. It is probably why I don't gel with many people. You seem cool, as most do to the DCS forums. Engineers have their own way at looking and testing a job almost to the point of tunnel vision and I understand the process and the need to totally exhaust the problem to eventual solution.
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 thank you. What you think about the P-51D campaign? We need more of a story based campaign. I think we'll get busy when she is released final. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. ErichVon Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 thank you. What you think about the P-51D campaign? We need more of a story based campaign. I think we'll get busy when she is released final. My single campaign title within Single Mission, Campaign is inactive as is the one for the jet. I cannot get into them in Beta #2. Or are you referring to something else?
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) I'm referring to the beta campaigns in general. I mean we should have some sort of actual P-51D employed campaign, and this bears to mind one of these: 1- WW2 Italian/NA train/convoy/ground assault runs 2- WW2 bomber escort 3- Korean war But the thing is, the mustang was built as a fighter of its era, and from combat experiences. Most of the campaigns will involve simple stuff, like for instance AAA all the way. But in context of Georgia, I think the P-51 can supplement ground troops only if the AO isn't infested with SAMs that would be a turkey shoot of the Mustang. Hell, she might even the odds versus Russian owned Mustangs.. But then again, this is a farcry from realism and history. EDIT: , which people can't seem to grasp. DCS is an open (one aircraft a year sophisticated enough for learning) sim. And that was my thousandth post. Gimme a cold-beer ED!! -Rudel- Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 This Hayne's manual I'm looking at in the library shows 37' 5/16" wingtip to wingtip https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 we should wait until the game is final. Maybe ED would do something about it.. TurboHog Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Agreed. Imo P51D is less work for ED than the complex avionics simulation we call DCS A10C. They should include a WWII upgrade of some sort for that reason. In addition, this is the most wanted feature for P51. 'Frett'
