Thanks, I was thinking which part of Moscow is this airport/base at since checking on Google map I saw there are at least 5 large airports around Moscow metro area. I am thinking of flying there although it's far trip for me... but 100yrs aniversary seems like its going to be a very nice and big event.

in the title its says its going to be in Zhukovsky. Same place where MACS is held. But as far as i know its going to be free of charge and theres gonna be lots of lots of ppl who dont even need to be there so i would recommend to go very early..

They're sound is just awesome, I saw (and heard) a pass of three aircraft on the 9th of May Military Parade in Moscow back in 2010. Just loved that rumbling sound!

 

Isn't there something official around like when and where this airshow will take place? I read Zhukovsky or Chkalovski airport on the Internet so where is it?

Would it be possible to describe? I'd like to imagine it :) Youtube videos don't do it justice at all, I'm afraid. Eight giant propellers going supersonic at the tips must be a very unique sound.

To get to the venue is very simple. Prior to the city "Zhukovsky" can be reached by train (journey time 40 minutes). Buses to the airport (very often).

Thanks for your help. So the accomodation should be made in Moscow and transportation should be made by train.

 

Last year, I have been to Turkish Air Force 100th Year Airshow and it was simply amazing. Russian air force have some great aircraft, which I would like to see with my won eyes:)

Guys, sorry to tell you bad news, but... 11.08 - only officials (Putin, foreign delegations, etc)... Only press is allowed. 12.08 - free entrance, but only for those, who have invitations.:( Probably better to know that now.

The latest info tells, that invitations are given to aerospace insustry workers, active RuAF and antiaircraft defense pilots and staff and also retired AF/AD personal.
