FDNY Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 This may sound dumb, But After nearly spending hours working on a repaint. I have no clue on how to actually view it and launch it for test. If anyone can help I would appreciated, Thanks !!! :(
leafer Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Go to DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\P-51D and create a folder called demo there. Put all the files there and change the --name = "name of your pain job"-- in the description.lua. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
FDNY Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Thank for posting leafer, I have managed to put files in the correct folder. I am still not cleared on how to actually load the skin while I am in a game. Also the template I use from the forums only have the PSD files. There are other files that are used in the repaints that are those called SPEC and DIF. Ive managed to repaint the DIF but Im not sure were to get the SPEC ffiles to add to my reapint folder like those I've seen in other repaints.
-Rudel- Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) The stock files can be found: P-51D.ZIP DCS World\Bazar\World\textures The shader ones are labled with 'SPEC' and 'NMp'. Keep in mind, the Desert Rat SPEC is a dull coat. But if the files are not present it will revert to the default files anyways. leafer Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) I actually got that from a tutorial. It explains the process pretty well even for a dummy like me. To load your skin go to payload screen and at the very bottom, expand the thingy and choose your skin. Make sure you put the "description.lua" file in with your personal skin folder and rename the name. rUl6XlvRgwk Edited May 14, 2012 by leafer ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
leafer Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Never mind. Don't listen to me if you're using the template from ED. I had spent several hours painting, but when I checked it out in game I got a yellow plane with missing texture written on it. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Bearcat Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 So again.. How do you view the skin? Is there a certain mission folder? Someone posted something about using ALT + to open up a load out screen.. but that does not show up anywhere.. is this from a quick mission? A full mission? Online only? I just finished my personal skin.. the one in my sig.. and i want to see how it looks but I cannot find how .. using the search function has drawn a blank .. it brought me here.. and so far I have seen no answers here to just how to do what the OP is asking.. Edit the description.lua file.. how? I don't see a " open with " when I right click it like in most odd files.. Markindel Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Anybody? Beuller? Beuuller? Hi Bearcat. You must copy the entire folder of your skin in this folder: C: \ Program Files \ Eagle Dynamics \ DCS World \ Bazaar \ Liveries \ P-51D Check the file "description". Mario (Markindel)
Bearcat Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Like this? C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\P-51D\Buffalo Soldier I did that ... Contents: I think it's right.. but my question is and it's cracking me up/driving me nuts that everyone keeps missing it.. is ... How do I select the skin once I am inside the sim? Maybe I am just having a Stevie Wonder moment but I just do not see a button or a slot or a drop down menu anywhere where I can select or change a skin for my AC.. Can I change it from any menu.. as in instant, campaign , etc or do I have to be in a specific type of misson to do this? All I see is the silver bare metal skin. To even test the front of the plane which was the most problematic for me to make as far as work going into it I had to rename it and drop it into the Bare Metal folder in order to see it to make sure that I had the nose art and nose markings right.. shall await the answers of those less ignorant on the issue than myself ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] AMD Fx-8350 | ASUS M5A99X EVO | EVGA 1050G PS | Corsair Force 3 240GSSD Samsung 840 EVO 500G SSD | 32G Corsair Vengance DDR3 | Seagate 1TB 7200RPMHD WD 2TB 7200 RPMHD XFX DD FX-HD 7870 2GB DDR5 | SB Xi-Fi APU | W7 U | TIR3 MSFFB2 | Saitek X-52|SaitekPro Pedals | Logitech Z-640 5.1 | ASUS VE248 24" LCD

Markindel Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 You must use the "Mission Editor" Sorry but are unable to explain it in English.
FDNY Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Hey BEARCAT, What you have to do is download a Mission from the downloads here at DCS. Open your Mission Editor and click file and Open that Mission, You are then going to edit that mission by clicking on the actual map these BLUE TRIANGLES WIth the letter " F " on them. Those are the actual planes in the mission. Once you click on one of them a window will pop out on the right to edit that aircraft. Click on the ICON that resemnbles a MISSILE. Then choose skin and pick the skin folder you edited. SAVE the mission and click on FLIGHT tab above and click FLY. Once you have loaded the mission click the aircraft you have assigned the skin to. You should be able to see it. If you any other problems please let me know.
