SackDestroyer Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Hey, I'm using this startup training tutorial mission: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/144189/ It's really good, but my problem is that right after the engines are started up, the instructor says to turn the SAI dial (the one a bit above the map screen) until it is all the way down. However I cannot interact with the dial at all. I'm following the instructions thus far completely, so does anyone know what the problem might be?
BigfootMSR Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) Its a rotatable knob. Try rotating your mouse wheel while the cursor is above it. If that doesn't work, you can use keyboard commands (RShift + RAlt + A)Move knob to left (RShift + RCtl + A) move knob to right, and you can pull the knob out by using (RShift + A). Thanks for trying out my mission. Edited May 16, 2012 by BigfootMSR Updated information 1 DCS: A10C Warthog JTAC coordinate entry training mission http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/99424/ DCS: Blackshark 2 interactive training missions http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612
Mugenjin Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 There's a knob on the bottom right IIRC. Just put your mouse cursor above it until it turns into a green wheel and rotate your mouse wheel.
SackDestroyer Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the reply! I was trying to just hold the mouse button and move the mouse up and down, rather than using the wheel. The knob to adjust the altitude alert dial on the left panel works like that. And thanks for making these tutorials. I think they're the best for a newb like me, since they cut out a lot of the unnecessary steps in startup and such. Edited May 16, 2012 by SackDestroyer
dburne Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 So glad I saw this. I have recently purchased both BS2 and A10-C from here, have just a few hours logged previously in the original Black Shark, but with it I never took the time to learn the start up procedure, opting for the single press auto start of everything. I will definitely be giving this a try! MeerCaT Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Just a quick related note, when 're-caging' the Standby Attitude Indicator (SAI) during shutdown (leave it as you found it! :)) you have to hold the right mouse button to 'pull' the dial outwards (towards you) and then rotate it back to the closed position - where it originally started. (You might have noticed when uncaging it at startup that it 'falls inwards' a little after rotating it about a quarter of a turn. Re-caging is simply putting it back up onto this little 'step') Also, you may notice that after some time in the air, the SAI becomes a little (or a lot, sometimes!) skewed. This is something to do with the inaccuracies that gradually build up within the navigation systems and gyros of the KA-50 during flight time. To reset the SAI back to centre point you must pull the dial outwards and hold it there while it slowly resets. During this time it can be useful to simply pull it out and twist it back to the caged position so that is holds there by itself without you having to manually hold it for the 3-10 seconds it may take to reset. But then, if you are so busy that you can't afford to take your hands off the cyclic for 10 seconds then the SAI is probably the least of your worries. :joystick:
