DDSSTT Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Question... Everytime I try contacting units in game they never seem to respond or only respond after the fact. I am using the correct radio freq (which took me forever to realize JTACs default was FM and the Mustang was AM only...) The comms menu displays white text at all times for the following example... I will request permission to taxi and wait... after about 5min I say the heck with it and start to taxi... the second I start to move the tower comes on and tells me I am clear to taxi to the runway and hold short. Next I ask to take off and the same thing... I start to power up and head down onto the runway and takeoff, just a I rotate the tail wheel off the tower tells me I am clear... well too late now... I will fly around and contact the airfield and inform them I am inbound and get no responce... I ask for a heading... nothing... I am not sure what I am doing wrong... Smokin Hole Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I sometimes get that with tower but not always. So far JTAC has always worked in a timely manner. (to continue my negative trend today, might I add that holding down to mic button to do everything is a real PITA?)
DDSSTT Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 So..? Is this normal for the game to ignore you? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
blackbaron Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 are you holding the radio transmit button down until your pilot has finished speaking?
DDSSTT Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 no...? I'll give that a shot... thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
Ramstein Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The radio on the P-51D is also giving me problems,, some airbases seem to answer my calls, others do not.. in the mission builder, I see where the aircraft has the place where you can assign a different frequency... I have made sure the airbases I want to communicate with have the proper equipment for refueling, arms, etc.. but some still no communication.. Is there a manual (yet) that explains the P-51D Radio options better? :helpsmilie: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Slayer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I think the problem starts with the startup sequence because right now you can power on the battery and radios and request startup. You will not get approval to startup until AFTER the engine is running. It seems the radio doesn't work unless the engine is on so it throws everything else in the sequence out of wack. The ATC has always worked like described above, IF you didn't get clearance then you kind of get it after the fact. It's the same thing with landing clearances etc. from pg 154 of the flight manual: RADIO COMMUNICATIONS There are two optional modes of using the radio that depend on the "EASY COMMUNICATION" OPTION under the GAMEPLAY tab. The radio communications window is accessed by separate keys depend of difficulty radio settings. Upon doing so, the list of radio command recipients is displayed along with the function (Fx) key required to view its sub-command window. Easy Communication is enabled: The radio communications window is accessed by a press of the [\] forward slash key (this is for US keyboards, other language keyboards may vary). After the command selection the radio or interphone will be selected (if required) and tuned (if required) automatically. "AUTO" caption that will indicate radio auto-selection. Also [\] key will close radio command menu. When the radio menu is displayed, recipients are color-coded as follows: Recipients on which at least one of the radios is tuned to is colored white. Recipients on which at least one of the radios can be tuned to but is not currently on the correct frequency is colored gray. Recipients that cannot be contacted due to range or terrain masking / earth curvature are colored black. Each will also have their modulation / frequency listed. When you select a recipient, the appropriate radio will automatically be tuned to communicate with the selected recipient. After a recipient has been selected to communicate with, the appropriate radio will be automatically tuned to the correct frequency. Easy Communication is not enabled: Player should use Push To Transmit (PTT) button [RAlt-\] to open radio command panel. PPT button will open and close radio communication window for current radio. When recipients are displayed, there is no color-coding of availability and no listing of their modulation / frequency. This is the more realistic mode and requires you to know the correct modulation / frequencies for each recipient and you must manually enter the frequencies on the correct radio. DDSSTT Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 It works now. You have to hold the "\" key down until your character stops speaking. Radio works fine before engine start up. Just turn on battery and genorator. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
