wolle Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 What is the new trigger action "radio beacon unit/zone" good for? Can it be used as a navigation aid for DCS Mustang? If so, how? On a related question: Am I right that DCS has not yet released the DCS World GUI manual? Weta43 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 You can attach a file and when triggered they will broadcast the file (one or repeatedly) on the set frequency with the set power. I'm fairly sure the radio transmission model is used, so reception is affected by distance etc. That would differentiate a message sent by a unit as a transmission from a simple triggered message (you have to be listening on the right channel & within range to receive it), or you could just set up a civilian channel to listen to as you fly :-) To the best of my knowledge, they cannot currently be used as nav beacons by the P-51 Cheers.
Jona33 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hopefully they can be used by A-10's for ADF to simulate that method of finding downed pilots if they "key their mike". Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Snoopy Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Here is a good example of what we'll be using it for in the 476th vFG... WlWdXFP3VyY v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
HiJack Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 OK so this can be used to transmit a pre recorded file. Can it be used to transmit a live radio station stream? Either music or flight station. (HJ)
