Merijn Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hi all, When i'm playing missions, I sometimes get this message on the EKRAN: "ELEC ON BATTERY". I don't seem to find the explanation (or cause) in the manual. I've searched this forum, but the only thing i find is ELEC ACUM. Is this the same ? And I was wondering what the cause is. I didn't get any battle damage. Nor other. It usually happens when flying in mountain areas. Thanks for your help! Merijn. Sceptre Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 If this is after you do your own cold start, make sure you have the two yellow levers (throttles) near the collective at the back of the cockpit set to normal (just over 1/3 of the way up). If this is not the case, check that the 2 elec switches near the battery switches are set to the UP position. Hope this helps! flanker0ne Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 The most probable cause is that the Generator are not capable of generate enough electricity due to a low engines RPM. This often happen when your ask in terms of powershaft is high. SCOPRI DI PIU': https://www.amvi.it/joinus.php DISCORD COMBINEDOPS The Battle Planning Tool
Merijn Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Thanks for the help. I didn't do the cold & dark myself. It happened e.g. in the Patrol Mission. Now, i think the yellow levers are in the auto position. I thought this was enough. This often happen when your ask in terms of powershaft is high. Could you explain this please ? But i wonder why do i got a low rpm ? My Rig: ASUS P8P67 - Intel I7 2600K 3.4 Ghz (not yet OC'ed) - GeForce GTX 560 - 8GB Ram - SSD 120 GB - HDD 2 X 500 GB - TIR 5 - Saitek X52 pro
MTFDarkEagle Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Below 70% rotor RPM the generators cannot provide power to the system. Can you provide a trackfile? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
flanker0ne Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 When you do a very tight turn, and the inflow effect become hight, Rotor and engine suffer a drop in rpm. SCOPRI DI PIU': https://www.amvi.it/joinus.php DISCORD COMBINEDOPS The Battle Planning Tool
Merijn Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Ah ok. So the engines rpm must be checked after a manoeuvre. But is the engine rpm linked to the collective then ? If i get it again i'll post a track file. My Rig: ASUS P8P67 - Intel I7 2600K 3.4 Ghz (not yet OC'ed) - GeForce GTX 560 - 8GB Ram - SSD 120 GB - HDD 2 X 500 GB - TIR 5 - Saitek X52 pro

If you are unaware of it, the drop can be so significantly that the RPM drops below the generator minimum. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Merijn Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Ah ok. I think I get it. Thanks for the quick replies and answers. If I encounter it again and think I did everything ok, I'll post the track.
