Sov13t Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 (edited) Two questions for all you multi-monitor dudes: Can a single 670 handle a triple monitor (1920x1080) set up of DCS:World? There are 670 models with 4GB of on-board VRAM as well as 2GB, with triple screens do you actually come close to the 2GB limit? Thanks in advance... Cali Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I tried hooking my HDMI up and it didn't show anything. I have to look into it, but I'm not running any games with 2 or 3 monitors. 1 main monitor and the others show info like gauges, ts, vent, etc... i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
PoleCat Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Yes it runs 3 displays AFAIK. I think better with 4GB..much better for multiple monitors. This will also be my next card moving from an ATI Radeon 6970 2GB. (3 x 1920x1200 displays). Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/

Sov13t Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 I already have an EVGA GTX 670 4GB in the mail along with 27" screens... will let you know how it is by the end of the week. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
Cali Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I haven't tried using another HDMI cable to see if that fixed my problem. Hopefully I'll get time this up coming week to mess around with it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Cali Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I think I just might install my old 8800GT and use it for the other monitor or both the 19 and 15 inch. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Sov13t Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 I got 3 27" VE278Qs and 1 19" Samsung running off of the 670. So far only ran a few games... frames around 40. Can't get FC2 to work... can't figure out how to get it set up properly. Don't have DCS World installed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
PeterP Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Answering your PM: I have a quick/simple question for you: If I have 3x 27" screens running at 5760x1080 what is the best way for me to go? Portrait/Landscape? Sorry, just not sure where to begin as a lot of guides talk about MFCDs and ABRIS and what not... but not about multi monitors as much.I tend to give you the advise to run all screens in portrait. Have a look at this vid to give you a estimate guess what to expect visually: >>>http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=64537&highlight=portrait This will also fairly well counteract the bending you will have when running all in land-scape: And running them all in portrait will also give you a good visual on ABRIS/Shikval and/or The MFCDs /Avionics without the need to use Helios or additional exports at all. Please read here what bugs to expect on a set-up that is divided by not equally sized screens - as DCS has no "real" multi-monitor support up to now (and I gave up hope that this will change in near future - as DCS:World contains not a single improvement towards a better multi-head support. To be honest: It made some aspects regarding Multi-Monitor even worse... ): A Plea for View-Export/Multi-head/TH Users. - ED Forums - so if you think about to add only one little screen to your tipple head system - Land-scape or portrait, it doesn't matter - you will have to deal with at least one of this flaws/bugs that are mentioned in the thread above. Now you should have all Info to make a good decision your own. Get simply DCS:World and have a spin in the Su-25T to know how it will work. Edited July 13, 2012 by PeterP 1
Cali Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 What settings and what games you using Soviet? I only use 1 main monitor, the rest are for other info. Besides they are all different sizes 26, 24, 19 and 15 inch monitors. I tried using my HDMI port, but it didn't show anything. Going to try another HDMI cable, if that doesn't work I'll be in contact with EVGA. 1 i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Sov13t Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 @PeterP: Thanks for taking the time to respond, the various searches I did last night only confused me because the information seemed to be scattered through out various threads. @Cali: I am running max settings and so far have tested it with World of Tanks and Red Orchestra 2. I am using DVI-D, DisplayPort and HDMI for the three main screens, my fourth is a 19" supplementary screen. I believe you have to enable the HDMI port when something is connected to it via the NVIDIA Control Panel - don't think it turned on automatically for me. --- I will give both arrangements a try, my main goal was to achieve a higher FOV in horizontal plane for better formation flying. I am also still not sure how TrackIR will work in all of this, I guess if it is a 1 Camera setting it shouldn't be an issue - but yet to try it. Also, not sure how NVIDIA Surround plays into this... whether it is a must, or not... 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
PeterP Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 have also a look at this two threads: >>>Bignewy's x3 SoftTH setup thread >>>>Seeking best connection method for optimal multi-monitor-performance Adding a fourth touch-screen that is dedicated only for the cockpit is maybe also a option for you.

Thx, I'll look into it again, I didn't see anything the first time I looked. What drivers are you using, I'm on 301.42. Sov13t Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 @Peter: If you are still reading this thread, one small question (or a few)... I got FC2 to run 5760x1080, but my view inside the cockpit is very zoomed in and I have no way of looking down. I tried setting maximum FOV to like 240 but it didnt help. :( I am using NVIDIA Surround to unify the screens, seems to help with other game titles. But I lose my fourth display... still havent tried SoftTH, well I tried dropping the dll into the bin folder but it didn't generate a config or anything. Anyways, more struggle tomorrow... PeterP Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Its long time since I edited in FC2... and I have it not installed since a whole year now - better search in the LockOn section .... But check the values I used to "open" the camera angle restrictions for the Su-25T: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1482473&postcount=74 You will have to do the same /similar with the planes of FC2 to be able to look freely around in the cockpit. 1
Sov13t Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Sorry, one more question... NVIDIA forums are down so it is a bit tough to find valid info on this. Is using NVIDIA Surround the right way to go? One of the advantages is bezel compensation... is there a way to have bezel compensation without using NVIDIA Surround? Sov13t Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 GOT IT TO RUN!!! Was taking off and giggling like a little girl... Frames at 60 in FC2. Didn't imagine this type of an experience. For now in portrait - will try landscape when my mount arrives. Peter your help (not just in this thread) but in all the various threads I kept digging up via search is insurmountable. Only hope the multi-monitor support keeps growing in DCS series. :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
Cali Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I might be RMAing my card, my HDMI port doesn't work. I've tried 2 different HDMI cables, using only the HDMI monitor and checked to make sure the Nvidia control panel was reading the HDMI port. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
