Belisarius Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I'm using the sitting ducks mission to practice dropping in ccip...I decided to take out the aa unit with a mav so I could freely bomb the other units. After I confirmed the mav hit on the tgp I scrolled to another target and TMS up until point lock , then I realized the spi was still the destroyed aa unit. I fiddled a bit and created a markpoint on my new target, switched the CDU to mark mode and by selecting that mark point I was able to switch the spi to new target.but there must be an easier way. Learning this sim is a real challenge!. Lots of baby steps but at least I now can follow the lingo! Seems u must talk the talk before u can walk the walk! Thanks in advance
Belisarius Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks. But I did TMS forward long to get the point lock. Shouldn't that make it the spi also? Or do I have to designate an spi with a different soi?
Revelation Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks. But I did TMS forward long to get the point lock. Shouldn't that make it the spi also? Or do I have to designate an spi with a different soi? Yes it should... Though I have witnessed it a few times not learning the new point. I make it a habbit to press TMS AFT long to remove it. Eddie Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Can you clarify your problem/question. You mention CCIP but then start talking about Maverick employment and SPI, all different things that are not necessarily related. What exactly are you asking?
Belisarius Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Ok. The heart of the question...do I need to "undesignate" an existing spi before I can designate a new one. And does locking a target with the tgp automatically make that target the spi?
JCamel Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Yes it should... Though I have witnessed it a few times not learning the new point. I'll second that. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.

JCamel Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 You must lock and then TMS Up Long. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
Eddie Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 You must lock and then TMS Up Long. You don't need to lock anything to set a given SOI as the SPI generator.
