JCamel Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I've tried the Su-33 but it's not there? If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.

Nate--IRL-- Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Maritime-Flanker-D.html Please not Carlo Kopp! :) Find another source and we'll take a look. That site is notoriously inaccurate and panders to Carlos agenda to get the F-22 for Australia. He's not reliable at all. GGTharos Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 ... which is a parrotting of Jane's listing for the Su-33, which was an upgrade that never happened. ED has much better sources. Copp not so good, and generally it's hard to tell what's true and what's not on the internet. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Maritime-Flanker-D.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
whitehot Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 yeah, kopp 's crusade to get australia the raptors has produced some amazing pieces of journalism. btw, while reading some of those, i got an interesting dejavu: in the 80s, as a kid i've happened to put my hands on a copy of "Soviet Military Power". i always remember my dad saying "don't take that too seriously; it's written by the same guys who want the US military budgets to be bigger", or something like that. back then, i could hardly understand what that meant. now i think i get it. JCamel Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 So the missile is listed in the encyclopedia but isn't in the game per se. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
GGTharos Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) It's a left-over from when it was available. It was removed, just like the R-27EA was removed, and the same as you won't find any Kh-29's or 31's useable by the Su-33. There has been an actual, recent modernization of the Su-33, IIRC, but there's very little information as to what was done. Besides, AFAIK, the Su-33 is being replaced by the MiG-29. Alfa Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 So the missile is listed in the encyclopedia but isn't in the game per se. The missile is active in the game as SSM for the "Tarantul III"(the game never made any distinction between the ASM/SSM variant), so the simple fix would be to rename it "P-270"(or "3M80"). JJ
JCamel Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Moskit (Kh-41) is still used by the Molyna frigate I noticed. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
