Sankis Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hi there. I just purchased the beta for DCS: Combined Arms and also DCS: P-51D. Prior to this I'd only used the Steam version of A-10 so DCS: World is new to me. I can't find this answer in the documentation, though it's entirely possible I missed it. I downloaded DCS: World and installed it. Then I proceeded to download the rest of the modules that I have a serial for. After that, I went on to install them. A-10c installed fine and is playable but the others aren't. With each module installed, DCS: CA, DCS: A-10c, DCS: KA-50, and DCS: P-51D, only A-10c is playable. When I click "instant" or "campaign" only SU-25T and A-10C are listed. I assume this is because A-10C is the only one I'd actively played prior to DCS: World's release so the key and such is still in the registry somewhere. However, I cannot for the life of me find a place where I can activate the other modules. There does not appear to be an activation application in the install directory nor does there seem to be a way to do it in game. What am I missing? I have a feeling it's incredibly obvious but I can't find it. Thanks!
Sarge55 Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 IIRC all you have to do is launch the module and if it's not activated it will then pop up the activation screen to enter the serial number in. Sankis Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 How do I launch the various modules, exactly? Is it somewhere in the DCS World application?
Grimes Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Launch the multiplayer application or do it one at a time with the quickstart missions. Sankis Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I think that's part of my problem, then. Even installed, these two games are not showing up in the quick start. I suppose it's not related to activation, then? Edit: To clarify: A-10c, KA-50 and SU-25T all show up when I hit campaign and instant mission. P-51 shows up in Instant Mission but selecting it crashes the game. CA is no where to be seen. I've reinstalled each of these several times to no avail. Edited July 14, 2012 by Sankis
Grimes Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 CA doesn't have any quick start missions. So you have to check the CA missions folder for the missions with it. Sankis Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Thanks for clarifying that. Knowing that, I opened up a CA mission and it worked (at least it loaded, I have no idea how to actually play it yet!). So it looks like P-51D is the prime offender at the moment. It's not showing up in campaign nor is it showing up in instant missions. Any attempt to load a P-51 mission under "mission" ends in a crash. Edit: Hm. Something about my P-51D installer seems off. Going to try redownloading and seeing if that helps.
JCamel Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I downloaded through Steam too and it put A-10C in a folder distinct from the Eagle Dynamics one used by the DCS World download as default. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
Sankis Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Well, I re-downloaded P-51D and it seems to be working now and everything else has also fallen into line. Comparing my two installers, it looks like I may have downloaded an older version of the module from an outdated mirror or something as the version numbers differ. Everything seems A-OKAY now. Thanks for the help, guys.
