Hoggorm Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi, I just installed the A-10 and want to go through the tutorials. However the instructor does not talk. Should he not? Extra question: The autopilot disconnects on the first tutorial mission even though the instructor should make sure it is on. Any ideas why? Thanks

rob10 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Hi, Extra question: The autopilot disconnects on the first tutorial mission even though the instructor should make sure it is on. Any ideas why? Thanks Typically the autopilot will disconnect if you cause the aircraft to move outside the "range" where it is trying to hold (i.e. you move the joystick or rudders significantly). Depending which mode it's in, it won't take or will pop off quickly if you're not in level flight when you try to activate it (i.e. if you're diving or climbing). If your trim is way off it may cause the aircraft to move back into dive or climb before the autopilot can compensate which again will kick it out -- this can be significant if you have a fair bit of joystick input to get the aircraft level and immediately release it once you activate the autopilot. Hope this make sense. It should once you start playing with the autopilot some.

Actually the problem was that my joystick gave DCS a slight input from time to time, even though I was not touching it. I solved the problem by inserting some dead zone in the DCS Joystick settings.
